Personally, I am not very religious at all, but I choose not to label myself with a title such as "atheist". However, I have noticed that people who do consider themselves atheist are looked down upon by society.
For instance, if a Christian were to stand on a stage and say how much he loves God, the people would think he is a wonderful man.
However, if an atheist man were to go on that same stage and say "I don't believe in god," he would be completely shunned by the crowd and thought of as a terrible person.
How can this behavior be tolerated in a society where people are free to believe or worship whatever they like? People really need to become more acceptant of other people's beliefs.
If I were to ask any young person (below college level, let's assume) whether or not they believed in god, more often than not I would be answered with a quick "YES!" even if it is not true.
I'm running out of letters to type with so I'll end it here.
Thoughts?
