Perhaps the Universe ALWAYS existed?!? Some say that GOD created the Universe and God was always here, well, if God always existed perhaps the Universe has too.

I don't think so. What would exist in the place of existence? Something that does not exist can't be conceived of; only things existing can be thought of. There would always have to be something no matter how far back you go. Something (the universe) could not spring from nothing. Existence has always been.

One theory says that the universe had to have a beginning point. The proof is that the universe is winding down. If the universe has always existed, it would have ended by now, says this theory. The fact that the universe still exists today is evidence that it was created at a particular point in time.
God, by contrast, has always been present without needing to wind down.
So, yes, I would say that a beginning to the universe is a necessity, even apart from consulting any texts.

God bless.

God existed before the universe. When it says that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth then believe it.

I have discovered a paradox in this but I don't know if but a few could appreciate it. I have discovered that God must have created the universe first before doing anything else, it is the first thing he did. This does not make sense, so I think it is probably the greatest paradox of all paradoxes.

But if infinite time existed before this universe then this universe could never exist.

I admit I do not understand this but the conclusion is necessary.

Everything has a beginning including God but before God there was nothing but void. The universe was created by God within the boundaries of his thought as a gift for his children to explore, experience and learn his wonders.

If you were to drive somewhere familiar and see a new home that has been built, perhaps it has been a while since you have driven there and you did not see the home being built, does this mean it built itself or did someone have to construct the home? Similarly the universe did not simply create itself but was constructed by God. The Bible answers this clearly in Hebrews 3:4 where it says:

(Hebrews 3:4) 4 Of course, every house is constructed by someone, but he that constructed all things is God.. . .

I hope this answers your question. If you would like more information on what the Bible teaches please feel free to email me.

A supernatural being needs a creator? You are thinking of things in physical, human, terms. Yes, things in our material world MUST have had a beginning. Where did the matter to create our universe come from? How did the first celled animals originate? We know that all things in the material/physical world had to have a beginning....something had to create/produce them. The fact that our universe is subject to decay (the Law of Thermodynamics) is ample evidence that it is not eternal in nature.

God exists outside of our physical paradigm. He has always been, and will always be. That is difficult for our finite human logic to grasp, but so is quantum physics.

God, the creator of elements and laws, exists outside of time & space...

This is the chicken and the egg question just different terminology.

I agree- it may always have existed. For what is time, anyway? That's the real question. Is time linear???? Or is linear just how we experience it.

I really don't have a clue and neither can anyone else. These questions have always been asked and we're still asking. It is a good question though.
