If the life given is called eternal life does that not by definition mean it is forever, eternally? How can you have something that is eternal and it be lost? (Question for the Christian especially)

some Christians might tell you anything. hahahhahaha

Don't confuse Eternal Life with salvation.

what does God Himself say?

YES. you can lose your salvation. Read the last page of the Bible. What does it say?
Anyone who does what? ADD TOO. OR takes away what? from this Book. God will take YOUR name out of the Lambs Book of Life. hello.??

Your name had to be IN it, for God to take it out.

bottom line.

Eternal life is something we don't have its a gift from God. Rom. 6:23. A christian is not totally saved until the resurrection, when they are made immortal. This will happen at the 7th or last trump. Read 1ST Corinthians 15:52-54 Death is swallowed up in victory at the resurrection. when a christian is really born again. In other words they are no longer flesh & blood but Spirit. like Jesus Christ is. Want to know more let me know!

It is eternal in destination.

Jesus said there are 2 "ways". (Matthew 7:13-14) We are all on one of those 2 roads.

It is accurate to refer to a saved person as "eternally saved" because if that person remains faithful, he will receive the eternal "crown of life" (Rev 2:10). He is on the way that leads to eternal life.

It is also accurate to refer to a lost person as "eternally lost". He is on the road that ends in eternal seperation from God.

Everyone who is "eternally saved" was in an "eternally lost" condition before being saved. If either "eternal" state can be altered, then both can. If one state cannot change, then neither can; so, if you believe in "once saved, always saved", you MUST also believe in "once lost, always lost".

We have all sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Rom 3:23). But the bible clearly teaches that the lost person has the OPTION to come to Jesus to be saved (Mark 16:15-16, Rev 22:17, etc.)

With this being true, the saved person must also have the OPTION to change his mind also. (Does the lost have free will, but the saved does not have free will?)

We all have a claim to an eternal abode, but while we are still on earth, we can choose which abode to abide in.

Indeed, nobody loses in a God shew where the end is declared from the beginning (let there be "light") and the end we're to endure unto is already written as the last trump it: The "grace" of our Lord JC with you all. Amen.

For the law cannot disannual the promise (eternal life) of God's grace, because light does not flee from darkness, but rather darkness flees from light, as ignorance flees from understanding. So it is written "with all thy getting, get understanding", and also noted get it: understanding results in thy head being crowned with "grace" glory (Prov 4). And when comparing spiritual things with spiritual, such as law glory with grace glory in 2Cor 3, the law then fades to nothing in compare-i-son, since grace is so exceedingly "much more", and much more abounds, to become winner take all of the human race won by one, the one first finished, of two mentions of "finished" in Jn 17 and Jn 19.

The point being made is law "added" to "grace is sufficient" (no law req'd) makes God's grace "no more grace", as death added to eternal life makes it no more eternal, but rather temproal life + death(added) = a dead end. And since by the curse of the law, such "ministration of death" applies to all if any try and fail to keep all the law all the time, which is a mission impossible, since law forbids, but then tempts you with an ungovernaable desire(lust) to do the very thing forbidden or not do what is commanded (called "evil concupiscence") and then haunts you with guilt till you feel "wretched", unless you flush the law as dung (BS).

Also the promise (eternal life) is notably what comes after we all are one do the will of God, which is "I will have mercy, and not sacrifice", a go figure which is to allegory say I will have grace, and not law (Ps 40:6; Ps 51:16; hos 6:6; Mt 9:13; Mt 12:7; Heb 10: all); And so that "none perish" by grace rather than all perish by law, since it is written all perish by the using of ordinances(laws): Col 2: 20-22.

The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

If you lose eternal life, you lose it before you have it. You cannot be in the middle of eternal life, and then it is taken away. Also, the alternative to eternal life is not nothingness, it is eternal damnation. SO, it is eternal either way.

Personally, I don't believe in this, but I used to be a Sunday School teacher (when I did believe in it).

Eternal life is forever, all you have to do is repent...

The Bible says, "That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:9,10) To receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life, sincerely pray this prayer from your heart:

“Dear Jesus, I believe that you died for me and that you rose again on the third day. I confess to you that I am a sinner and that I need your love and forgiveness. Come into my life, forgive my sins, and give me eternal life. I confess you now as my Lord. Thank you for my salvation. In Jesus Name Amen!”

The people who invented the answer in the first place never expected anyone to think of something as deep as your question here. They expected sheep who whould follow.

A person who truly repented and put their faith in Jesus cannot lose their salvation. The Bible says that "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion". Go to www.equip.org
