I ahev asked a similar question an hour ago but I mistyped the quote. It is from Surah Al Baqarah [2:65], that tells a story about god who prohibted people (Jews) from working on Saturday and when some of them tried to hunt whales on Saturday, god punished them by switching their bodies into monkies!

From this verse it is clearly understood that God set Saturday as a holy day (this is in Quran), so why Muslims don't celebrate it?

This is the story of the jews, they were cared for by God, but kept transgressing God's limit includng the breach of the sabath at the time., Go and check the jewish history, there was a jewish fishing community that was turned to apes in times of old.
The Muslims day of gathering is the day of the gathering( Al Jumuah) which is Friday. We are to go and pray and return to our business, we do not have any special day for rest and the prophet did not practice that.

We also celebrate the day of the 2 Eids, The Eid al kabir, during the month of Dhul Hijjah and Eid al Fitr following the month of Ramadhan.

It is because this is the day that the Jews used to celebrate as their Sabbath. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) came, he was asked to differentiate between the existing Jews and Christians, as well as all other religions in all ways, so Muslims do not celebrate on Sabbath, but rather on Jumuah (Friday.)

The hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) states that, "“Whosoever imitates a nation is amongst them”. (Sunan Abu Dawud.)

The muslims do not celebrate anyday but Friday coz Allah created Adam in this day.we do not know the hour when Adam was created exactly but we do know that there is an hour which Allah answer our prayes in it.it is the hour when Adam was created.
Clearly we do not celebrate with the specific meaning of the celebration.Muslims men go to Pray in the Masjjid(do not be confused ,they go to the masjjed 5 times everyday).Befor praying they listen to the kotba or islamic lecture(it means that they listen to a man who talk to them about Allah and the islam). After that they start to pray(the normal pray).Women are not obliegied to go to the masjjed since Allah know that they are weak creaters and it will be so hard for them to go to the masjjed everyday 5 times.by the way,i think that it is important to u to know that the muslims men must leave everything(working, selling and buying) when they are called to the salat(pray) and they have to go to pray evenif they are busy.
Sorry,i have answered answer question but i had to make know the day which we celebrate on.Muslims do not celebrate on saterday.we have diffrenent orders with diffrent rules.Allah mentioned that in the holy Quran to learn from the ppl who were before us and to learn from thier mistakes
