The people on this question seemed like they would not even want to live without their religious binky comforting them. Am I the only one that finds this level of dependence to be similar to a drug-addict?

Although greeted with a wave of protest, suggestions by Vatican spokesman Dr. Joaquin Navarro-Valls of a link between homosexuality and sexual abuse by priests cannot be lightly dismissed, and in fact, demand further exploration.

Part of the sensitivity in this discussion is the fear that such comments imply a connection between homosexuality and pedophilia. But in the overwhelming number of cases made public so far, the victims have been teenage boys (not girls), meaning that this does not fit the clinical definition of pedophilia, which is the obsessive sexual attraction to prepubescent children.

In order to truly get at the root of the problem, the imperative question is why has the homosexuality of priests resulted in the molestation of adolescent boys?

According to most estimates, 25-50% of priests are homosexuals, compared to the 3-5% of men in the general public who are gay. Not only does the priesthood have a disproportionately strong appeal to homosexuals, but most of the priests involved in the scandals came of age during the sexual revolution of the late 60’s and early 70’s. Adding further fuel to the fire is the immaturity of many of these priests, who often joined the seminaries fresh out of grade school, denying them the normal social experiences of adolescence. The combination of homosexuality, lax sexual attitudes, and immaturity has proven a recipe for disaster.

More than 1200 priests in sex scandal

By Laurie Goodstein in New York
January 13 2003

The sexual abuse crisis that has engulfed the Roman Catholic Church in the United States over past 12 months has spread to nearly every diocese in the country and involves more than 1200 priests.

Those are among the conclusions drawn from an extensive New York Times survey of documented cases of sexual abuse of minors by priests over the past 60 years.

The survey compiled the names and histories of 1205 accused priests. It counted 4268 people who have claimed publicly or in lawsuits to have been abused by priests, though experts say there are certainly many more who have remained silent.

what if mary did fornicate, producing jesus? wouldn't it make sense, to protect herself from the harsh jewish laws of the time, which would have required her death, to lie to her husband and convince him not to let her be punished? she would have been aware of the prophecies concerning the messiah, so she would have known exactly what story to tell. and if a young jesus grew up with his parents telling him that god had impregnated his mother and that he was the son of god, wouldn't he believe it, too?

then, he could have studied the prophecies himself, setting out to fulfill what he believed was his duty as god's son and the savior of his people.

please respond with your thoughts.

and i mean real, intelligent thoughts, not angry proclamations of blasphemy, heresy, or damnation.

Just noticing that some folks on here are very mislead.

1. Evolution is not a proven fact it is a theory.

I do have a question though, why do some of yall(athiest) like to jump on christians for spreading thier word, when in fact by jumping on them you in fact are doing the same thing.

Basiclly what I am saying if you don't like religion, don't open the religion questions.

I was thinking about all those lost souls who work down at the Crazy Horse strip club. These lovely women who dance naked in front of drunken men who throw dollars bills at them. This place is a den of iniquity that belongs to Satan. We need to save these poor souls from the fires of hell.

I need your help. Would you please send me dollar bills so that I can go down there, pay for their time and attention, and talk to them about Jesus. God will smile upon you for your donations.

Many agree there is an absolute truth outside of our Perception, where there is no bias. I'm not forcing my beliefs, but consider this... The chances of Jesus fullfilling just 48 old test. prophecies is a staggering 1 in 10^157! (There's 10^79 electrons in the whole universe!) For this mind-bending reason--Jesus is the truth> New Testament is 99.5% accurate from the original! ( for spelling mistakes, and synonyms) No other religious figure could do what Jesus did in their scriptures. Theres plenty evidence, wut do u think>

I am the one true god. I created you to have free will, made a world for you where all the answers are within reach and gave you the physical attributes with which to discover the truth.

Yet despite my best efforts to guide you, you reject free will in favour of following ideologies that limit your development.

The last time I was here, you nailed me to a tree - because I was a threat to those who would keep you ignorant. Believe me when I tell you that I didn't die to save you from sin.

You have progressed so slowly since then, hell - you spent the next 1000 years arguing over what I said and meant - the message was clear and unambiguous. In 2000 years, only 3 of you - just 3 out of thousands of billions of you - have matched me. Ironic what with me being a trinity and all - even I didn't see that one coming! You could have got this far in just 200 years rather than 2000 if you'd only used your free will.

Deny me or accept me - there'll be trouble for you later either way
