I am an atheist but I have nothing against religion. If you want to believe, good for you. My opinion is that religion is fine but organized religion is, overall, a bad thing. Religion gives men hope. Organized religion is responsible for controlling its congregation members' opinions. Religion helps guide some people on a moral path. Organized religion takes money out of your pockets. Religion gives people something to have faith in. Organized religion is responsible for the deaths of millions throughout history.

Would we not all be better off keeping religion but doing away with massive organized religion? We could still have spiritual guidance counselors, etc...

(P.S. Fellow atheists, please don't jump down my throat about this, I am trying to appeal to the majority here...)

According to leading scientists, the now theory of evolution evolution is about to be validated. Is the devil at work here or is there something to the idea that man can solve this mystery. Perhaps when man buts the puzzle together, an extraterrestrial will show up an say, "I am your creator!" How will the people of world respond to that! I can't wait!

As they are contrary to humility. The Bible states plainly that the "meek shall inherit the earth." How do we reconcile the love of self with scripture?

i made the mistake of calling athiests "worthless bags of nothing" in a question. i didnt ask the question to get a rise out of anybody and did not say that to offend anyone either. i just wanted to know why and how you can believe that there's no soul inside that bag of perfectly arranged organisms and molecules. i guess i find it hard to believe that people out there really think that this is it. that when you die you die and nothing else. what a waste of space and time that would be if that was the case. maybe that's the purpose of life...to find that faith in God deep within yourself...even if it means believing in something that you cannot see, or touch, or have a scientific explanation for. i'm not sayin you should believe or follow any particular religion...that's silly, i know. But what outside of this confused beautiful world do you look up to? why are we all here? and if believing in nothing makes you happy...would believing in something make you unhappy?

what will the dogs, cats, mutts, ferrets or cows become onto the next stage? one end dog, the other end cat? If scientist studied what has happened in evolution, then can't they predict what the future animals will be? perhaps the flying ferret, or the crawling bat, oh and maybe the aquatic bear that lives on the ocean floor?

this is getting silly since there are many religions that worship idols and gods long before christianity ever came about. if you seriously want to be that way about it look at the cross with jesus on it. to me that is a idol as well and god of the bible said do not worship idols of any kind

Atheists believe in a universe in which there is no God, which is fine. To each his or her own. We're all entitled to make up our own minds about such things.

However, there is no evidence to prove that God does not exist.

It is also wrong to assume that science has the answer for everything.

Therefore, why is it that some atheists insist upon their system of beliefs as though it were the only choice for the rational mind?

Why is it that some atheists seem absolutely determined to convert people over to this system of beliefs?

Why is it that some atheists seem to be spreading propaganda?

I have no diagnosed mental issues (lol)...now that I've cleared that up for the wiseguys, here's my question. Why is it that some persons can get around different people, and feel their energy, be it positive or negative? I almost want to run from an acquaintance of mine when I see her coming because she seems to literally suck energy out of me, I can literally feel it being drained as she yaks about how bad her life sucks. Her kids have a similar effect on me. They are both hyperactive, she demands no respect out of them. I feel empathy for them, yet they drain the life out of me, just being around them!! I need to pray and nap after they leave to "recharge". Does anyone have any similar experiences? What is this called? It's only certain people, not everyone.

i know the question is offensive.
but i just feel insulted by christians. it is not just in this forum but also in my daily life.
but again what i mean here is 'some' christians, not all. i respect those who practice love of Jesus.
why they discriminate like all non-christians will go to hell. and that they have to pray for us if we don't believe in god / Jesus. and atheist is blind and stupid, lost souls ?!?!
everyone believe their own belief is the best but why christians seems to be very aggressive.
i think it's right a comment i've read that christians only care 'the next life'.
some also very intolerance.
and it seems like they trying to convert this religion and spiritual forum into christian forum.
find jesus, accept him, god will punish, etc.
me myself respect Jesus for his life and i think he focus on love and humanity not about christianity.
i think there's something wrong about the present christianity, just too dogmatic. they quote bibles as they want to please themselves.

I notice a lot of postings where people, out of respect, do not completely spell the word GOD....they spell it G-D.
If they aren't allowed to 'write' the word God, then why is it OK for them to pronounce the word GOD?
Any serious answers to this?

at work and around some friends, and some of my unsaved family, i am consistantly exposed to gossip. before i gave my heart to Jesus i saw no problem with it... now i hate it, but sometimes i find it hard to separate from. What do you do when people around you are gossiping or asking you your opinion on a gossip induced matter?
