far from suggesting that abortion is in any way wrong the bible actually contains instructions on how to perform one.
in numbers 5:11-29 the bible says that any man who suspects his wife of adultery (whether he have any evidence for this or not) may take her to the priest who will then perform a ritual cursing which will lead to abortion if the child is illegitimate.

The Bible does not mention the word "abortion", but it talks at length about murder, or taking the life of the innocent. So the question then becomes, "When does life begin?"
Pro-Choice says life begins at birth, Pro-Life says life begins at conception. Thus, the big debate.
The Bible does speak about God knowing you while in the womb. (Psalm 139)
In America, the proof of guilt or innocence lies in the perpetrator of the act, not in the recipient of the act. Innocent until proven guilty. So, in the case of abortion, the perpetrator is the adult having the abortion, and the recipient of the act (victim) is the unborn child. So, this is the one case in American Law where we said "We don't know when life begins, therefore we will allow the act to continue." The exact opposite should be true. Abortions should not be allowed at any point after life begins (or it is murder). It is up to medical science to prove where that point is. It can be anywhere from conception to birth, or anywhere in between, but if it is not proven within a reasonable doubt, you must side with the victim (in American Law), not the aggressor.

the bible makes no reference to abortion (which according to Wikipedia did exist in ancient times http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion ). In fact the closest thing to a reference is in Exodus 21:22 to the punishment if a man does violence to a pregnant woman causing her to lose the child, which is different from the punishment for murder as described in Exodus 21:12, which clearly indicates that the basis for popular religious thought for the Judeo-Christian-Muslim traditions did not intend for the killing of a fetus to be regarded as murder.
A lot of Christians look to the commandment, "Thou Shalt Not Murder," However, there is a great deal of subjectivity to how the bible deals with killing and the nature of murder. Given that it was practiced commonly by the ancient people for whom the ancient bible was new (the people who best know the original intent of the scriptures) coupled with abortion not being mentioned anywhere in the bible, I'm of the opinion that the bible did not intend for abortion to be viewed as murder.
It's an issue today because we have all these images of fetuses, and we look at them lovingly because that little thing with fingers and toes is going to become our child. Our technology has strengthened our sentimental attachment to the fetuses, so we are beginning to consider the possibility that we ought not kill them. But rather than admit that that is what is going on, they make it a religious mission.

Well Dear,...It's several passages you could look under. For example when the Virgin Mary had a concived baby growing in her, even though her's was immaculate it talk's of conseption and a child growing inside her. Then isn't 1 of the 10 commandentments thou shall not commit murder. Sweety I could go and get my bible and keep going with the correct and all passages..but you can find those places easily..The lord forgives a person thousands of times or it might be7 hundred and77x's..I'm getting my life back to gather after some very wrong choices I've made in the past...My a dvice to you is sit down ,say a prayer where to find what your looking for and the LORD will guide you....GOD BLESS

There is no mention of abortion to my knowledge in the Bible. I've read it several times and abortion is not mentioned. The Ten Commandments states: THOU SHALT NOT KILL. This however maybe the statement they may have ment. Yet we civilized people of america disobey this commandment daily. People always refer to the Bible when they feel you don't want to hear them. No one turns the Bible away and everyone has a Question about it but no one really understands it if they even read it completely. GOD BLESS

It says murder is evil.
What the whole abortion debate comes down to is when you think life begins. Nobody in their rational mind would be against abortion simply to take away a "woman's right."
The question to ask is, when is it a life? Where do you draw the line? 10 minutes after conception? 3 months? 10 minutes before birth? It has nothing to do with what the Bible says untill you determine when it is "life."

It doesn't. Abortion is dependent on the circumstances, if a person was raped then I really dont think that taking a morning after pill or getting the procedure done is a sin because what that man did was outright wrong and violated the law of love. But if you are promiscuous and sleep around without any thought to the consequences of your actions then abortion is not the answer because you didn't take any procautions or take the responsibility. It is all in the heart one way it wasn't your fault, the other it was your fault.

If you insist on seeing with two eyes the scripture that has even the word abortion in it, it'll never happen. But there ARE some scriptures that can help us determine what God really wants regarding the life of an unborn child. Psalm 36:9 says "With you, Jehovah God, is the source of life." Psalm 139:13-16 says "You,(Jehovah) kept me screened off in the belly of my mother...your eyes saw even the embroyo of me, and in your books all its part were down in writing." So we can see that God created life, and that he considers life precious enough to 'write down' all the specialness of even an embroyo. Exodus 21:22,23 says "In case men should struggle with each other and they really hurt a pregnant woman and her children do come out but no fatal accident occurs, he is to have damages imposed upon him without fail according to what the husband of the woman may lay upon him; and he must give it through the justices. But if a fatal accident should occur, then you must give soul for soul" (there were some Bible translations that assumed that this injury had to be to the mother, but the original Hebrew text refers to an accident to either mother or child unborn)
So now we know what sort of recompence God expected if an unborn child were hurt or killed because of something someone else did. Genesis 9:6 says " Anyone shedding man's blood, by man will his own blood be shed, for in God's image he made men." 1 John 3:15 says "No manslayer has everlasting life remaining in him" and Exodus 20:13 admonishes us simply "you must not murder" Romans 14:12 says that each of us will render an account for himself to God. How will I stand at that accounting ? is the question we should ALL be asking ourselves. If you know what is right, and you deliberately do the wrong thing, there will be a day of reckoning.

You won't find the word abortion in the Bible because that word didn't exist then. You can challenge people to find the word, car in the Bible and of course they won't find it because that didn't exist then either. In those days, they didn't think of finding a way to kill a baby before it was born. Abortion is a modern word that makes it sound politically correct to "not have a baby." When actually, they are killing an unborn baby. It is against the law to kill a baby. Killing it before it is born is a way of getting around the law.

Abortion is the same as killing. I am not sure if it says that abortion is murder but I do know the Pope of the Catholic faith has the power/right in Gods eyes to make a rule such as that. Therefore it would be considered a sin in Gods eyes if the Pope has spoke the words.

Exodus 21:22 (NIV): If men [...] hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely [or miscarries] but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman's husband demands and the court allows.
The Bible tells us in several other ways that the unborn child has a soul. If the unborn child has a soul as does a born child, then there is no difference between killing a born child and killing an unborn child.
