No, that was assumed with the song "Mellow Yellow". The band was asked what it meant, and they jokingly said it was about smoking banana peels. However, I'm sure many poor ignorant souls tried it!

That is so funny. Just brought back a funny memory for me. When myself and a friend were about 16, we dried a banana peel and smoked it. We heard you could get a buzz. It was gross!!

I love bananas, but I have never smoked one. There are, however, other fun things one can do with them.

You have to boil some sort of essence out of the peels, or something to that effect. You don't actually just set one alight and smoke it.

Edit - Actually, I just looked it up. It appears to be false, anyway. But the Anarchist Cookbook was the source, I guess.

Banadrine... or so its called. Theres some halucinogenic compounds in banana skin supposedly. theres a recipe for extraction in the anarchist cookbook. they also have one for peanut skins, wich embarrasingly enough doesnt work.
