I notice a lot of postings where people, out of respect, do not completely spell the word GOD....they spell it G-D.
If they aren't allowed to 'write' the word God, then why is it OK for them to pronounce the word GOD?
Any serious answers to this?

God looks at the heart. Whether it is spelled out or not is not the issue. What is important to God is the heart that it comes from. I have a problem with saying his name when I am stressed but I try very very hard to not. I think that God would treat that very differently then a person who over uses his name with out care and tries to abreviate it just so it does not seem that bad.

I kind of look at the whole thing like this, If you had a best friend and you said their name everytime you were mad or wanted to complain about something. How do you think that would effect your friendship? Would it matter if you abreviated your friends name or not?

People do this out of respect for the holy name. It has nothing to do with being "allowed". The Bible spells out his name. The Israelites used to spell God's name only in part out of reverence. No one goes to hell because of any action they do or do not perform. The way to heaven is through Jesus, not through our own actions.

well the ancient jews werent allowed to spell YHWH(no vowels in hebrew) and the high priest was only allowed to say it one time a year so they might be going by that. me personally have nothing against writing it but do have a problem with taking his name in vain.

I noticed that on here too! I don't have an answer for you. Maybe it's a certain religion that doesn't allow them to spell it.
