It has not been lost, just ignored by the Church. The ego-centric church cares less if they respect Messiah by calling Him by his given, correct name, just as President Bush cavalierly nicknames everyone he meets without respect or dignity for that person. So it is with the church, thus we have: the man upstairs, my good buddy, the Big Guy, Jesus, lord, my co-pilot, helper, etc. His given name in Hebrew was Yahoshua or alternately Yahusha, it is the derivative of name of YHVH-pronounced Yahuweh or Yahowah. One of the apostasies we inherited from our early Jewish brethren was the avoidance of the Tetragrammaton, the Holy Name of the Almighty. It is not surprising that the modern church has no desire to get the name right, when they haven’t show the least iota of desire to get much of anything else right concerning Him or His teaching through the many centuries. How would calling upon the true and correct Name of the Almighty help them in their apostasy, unbelief and willful sin, except make it worse for them at Judgment Day. No wonder when Messiah shall tell the lukewarm apostate church to depart from Him, as they will still be calling Him by His false name of Jesus, which is a clear derivative of the god Zeus.
