"The Old Testament prohibitions against homosexuality in the Books of Leviticus (chapter 18, v.22; chapter 20 v.13) and Deuteronomy
are essentially provisions of the Jewish Law. Those Christians who base their disapproval of homosexuality on them must be prepared to state whether or not they are prepared to keep the other provisions of the Jewish Law." (Margaret Evans)

I have this friend who does not believe in what the bible says. He thinks it is just made up because there is no proof that anyone wrote the books. Please tell me what to say to him. I have already told him that there is some proof the bible is real.

"This is because the word used in Greek in the account given by Luke can mean "boyfriend"', we know that centurions and their personal servants often had sexual relations and it is stated that the centurion was very fond of the servant. If this story does mention a gay relationship, then it confirms that Jesus was less interested in what people did rather than in their faith and love." (Margaret Evans)

"Surah Al-hadeed" comes as number 57 in the order of the Holy Qur'an. It consists of 29 Verses. If this number (i.e. 29) is multiplied by the number of the order of the chapter (57), the outcome is: 57 X 29 = 1653. What does this number 1653 mean? Let's take the summation of all the numbers of the orders of all Sura's from 1 through 57 (Al- Ħadeed), the outcome is 1 + 2 + 3 + . . . + 57 = 1653?!
57 is also the atomic weight of the iron. There are 5 isotopes of the iron, namely: 55, 56, 57, 58 & 59. The median of which is: 57.

"What the Bible says about anything is selective, contradictory and liable to change in interpretation. People do not believe in " what the Bible says". People believe in traditions about what the Bible says. Judeo-Christian tradition certainly is homophobic but whether the words of Jesus are homophobic is another matter. The various Christian theological traditions are so different from one another that they cannot be identical with the words of Jesus. The believer must decide whether the words of Jesus are more important than Christian traditions. Arguing out of Christian traditions is circular." (Margaret Evans)

Every Christian group believed that contraception was immoral until the Episcopal Church changed its mind in 1932. Now every Christian group except the Catholic Church accepts birth control.
Birth Control separates procreation from sex and is the root of all social problems. Christians should know that couples who use it are SELFISH and it is the main cause of why most marriages have problems. It was invented only for LUST. It is anti-God.

Looking for informed discussions about this. No proselytizing, please.

I'm not sure how much I agree with him. I think he is basically right on, but does anyone know if it's true that EVERY culture so far has had some sort of spiritual sense, and has translated this into organized religion?(strictly speaking from an anthropological standpoint)
Also, what about athiests like myself? I have faith (har har) that there is no god. In your opinion, how do people like me triumph over biology like this?

I am a Pagan with lots of question about the Bible and Christianity. I was told by many Christians that if I read the Bible all of questions would be solved. Well, it seems as though it's just the opposite. I have more questions now than I did before reading the Bible. And I'm only on the first page!

My first question is this:
Genesis 1:3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
But then four days later we have:
Genesis 1:16 God made the two great lights--the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night--and the stars.

How could God have light before he created it? What light source did God create before he created the stars, the moon and the sun?

Then my big question is this one:
Genesis 1:26 Then God said "Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness ..."

I thought there was only ONE God, as per the Christian doctorine. The use of the words "Us" and "Our" seems to state otherwise.

SOME MATHEMATICAL MIRACLE OF QURAN.

there are some antonyms which occur exactly the same number of time in Quran .

"Man" is used 24 times, and "Woman" is also used as 24 times.

"Satin" and "Angel" , both occur 68 times in Quran.

"Dunya (this world) and "Aakhira (means hereafter), both occur 115 times in Quran.

The word for dry land ("Barr") occur 13 times in Quran , and the word for sea ("Bahr") 32 times. Guess what!? 13:32 is approximate ratio of land to water on the surface of the Earth.

The word for "Month" occur exactly 12 times in Quran and the word for day occurs 365 times in Quran.

Which famous religious leader said the following;?

I had made up my mind to write no more either about the Jews or against
them. But since I learned that these miserable and accursed people do
not cease to lure to themselves even us, that is, the Christians, I
have published this little book, so that I might be found among those
who opposed such poisonous activities of the Jews who warned the
Christians to be on their guard against them. I would not have believed
that a Christian could be duped by the Jews into taking their exile and
wretchedness upon himself. However, the devil is the god of the world,
and wherever God's word is absent he has aneasy task, not only with the
weak but also with the strong. May God help us. Amen.

And: Therefore the blind Jews are truly stupid fools...

Who was he and what did he write?

Would you believe anything else that he said?

Would you follow his religious ideas?

We don’t know all the wisdom behind such order, but there are some surprising studies regarding the number of verses in the surahs (chapters) of Quran.

There are 114 chapters in the Quran.
If you add up all the numbers from 1 to 114, you will get the number of 6555. (FORMULA : [n*(n+1)/2] OR [114*(114+1)/2] = 6555)
And There are 6236 verses in the entire Quran.

Suppose as a matter of curiosity, we add up "chapter number" and "the number of verses within that chapter". e.g. Chapter 1 contain 7 verses. This gives result of 8. and so on. This way we will get the 114 different totals (as there are 114 chapters in Quran). Now if for curiosity we wanted to know how many of them are even numbers and how many of them are odd numbers, we will get the result of 57 EVEN NUMBERS AND 57 ODD NUMBERS. That does not simply occur by Chance.
