Every Christian group believed that contraception was immoral until the Episcopal Church changed its mind in 1932. Now every Christian group except the Catholic Church accepts birth control.
Birth Control separates procreation from sex and is the root of all social problems. Christians should know that couples who use it are SELFISH and it is the main cause of why most marriages have problems. It was invented only for LUST. It is anti-God.

It's your ow...: one word: ABSTINENCE. You don't have to have kids if you peridocally abstain. Use Natural Family planning. It tracks a woman's menstrual cycle. A Vasectomy is sinful. It denies a person's wife their whole self. It means you only care about pleasure.

Ma_isa: When a Catholic gets married, they promise to freely accept children from God. Natural family planning adresses irregular cycles. Birth control is a LYE. you are not accepting your spouse fully. you are holding back. You are using that person's body to masturbate. It says you only care about pleasure.

Ma_isa: couple who have fertility problems are the exception. If you are infirtile a person coul stay single or if they want to marry they can always adopt. I'm glad you will accept children on your honeymoon, but you should be careful in chosing a wedding date so you don't have to get pregnant.

Qchan05: Saying sex just happens and it is you can't do anything about it is an excuse for LUST. Sex is pleasurable and enjoyable, I'm saying why not give youself fully. You cannot hold back, it must be 100% but, birth control is a holds back. It destroys love because you don't love your spouse's fertility and body. don't want kids=abstain. Birth control says you only care about the pleasure and not the person. That's called LUST. LUST IS immoral.

You are a nut.
And other denominations are also anti-birth control, such as the Southern Baptists.
How would more kids help marriages survive?

You say "abstinence" like it's the cure-all for everything. It's not that simple; when sex happens, it happens, and you rarely plan for it (unless you're actually trying for a baby, which is usually when, ironically, you don't succeed, because you're too stressed out about trying to have a baby). Telling a person "just don't have sex and everything will be better" is about as effective as telling a drug addict "just stop doing drugs some night and you'll be fine in the morning." Sex will happen, whether we want it to or not, and screaming "practice abstinence!" isn't going to help. And it is NOT "just using someone's body for masturbation," as you claim, because it can, in fact, bring a couple closer together, emotionally. It's not lustful or dirty; it's a natural, biological process that results in our having kids and happens to be pleasurable at the same time.
So, since sex is pleasurable, so why not just do it? If God truly didn't want us to have sex unless it was to make kids, then why did he make it fun?
Also, birth control may be preventing procreation, but what with the population of the world being what it is, I'd say that we NEED a few ways to curb procreation.
Personally, I will use contraception until I am ready to have a kid. And to answer your initial question, no, it is not the biggest problem for Christian marriages. In fact, I don't think it should even be an issue.

I am Catholic, willing to save sex for my wedding night, and i beleive in birth control... sorry, but it's better for the kids to arrive when your family is solid and well formed... sex is not only a "baby making procedure", but a demonstration of love between a man and a woman; and let me also inform you that not all women are regular and "abstinence periods" are not an option.
Trying to keep a man by your side by getting pregnant no matter what, that IS selfishness, you ruin the man's life, and the baby's.
On the other side, what do you say about couples with fertility problems?? will you consider their marriages null because "marriage is meant to have children", or just not allowing them to have sex because it would be "only for lust"?? or because "they're using eachother's bodies to masturbate"??.. give me a break
By the way... when I get married, if I get pregnant during my honeymoon I'll receive my baby with my open arms and all my love, even if this makes things harder for me and my husband...
And it is virtually impossible to track when will you be fertile in a year, there are delays in the periods (ooohhh!), in my honeymoon I'll use birth control, wether you're happy or not... it's obvious you're not familiar with women, huh??

Personally I am not a user of birth controll. And I also see the use of it as "selfish" and taking away procreation. Im not Catholic but I can understand their ideas on it. On the other hand though... people are indeed lustful and unfortunately there are too many unwanted pregnancies. I dont like birth controll, but I hate abortion. So in my opinion its the "lesser of the 2 evils"
Lustful people will have to answer for this one day, as we will all answer for our sins but Id rather a life not be created than created then destroyed.

Birth control is for a society where sex is without commitment. God made sex for marriage, that intimacy be the reward of commitment.
As such, he saved sex for a time when both man and women wouldn't have to worry about birth control. Birth control was a man made invention to help combat the problems of having sex outside of marriage.
As such, birth control inside of a marriage is perfectly acceptable because it may be that God doesn't intend for that couple to have babies. But he did intend for married people to have sex as that is the upmost fulfilment of their intimacy.
But, for a christian realtionship outside of marriage, birth control should have no claim. It shouldn't be used because it encourages the couple to forget about the consequences of sex, and focus on the intimacy. In this way, I see birth control as "anti-God".
But you have to admit that brith control, condoms, and all the other like have helped combat a lot of other problems that our society has also created from sex eg. AIDS. Think of what the world may be like if condoms never existed. There would be a lot more problems than just AIDS
In this way, i don't see birth control as "anti-God". Its a double-edged sword.

Their Christian
let me give you some examples of such lust and being selfish.
Selfish:
The Aids and HIV crisis in Africa (a prominently catholic country, thanks to our ancestors) They will risk their lives and will not use birth control (which we in the west can claim for free) because the pope will not endorse birth control (what a prick)
What happened to the compassion and humanity? have you as a religon left in with your common decency far far in the past? the world isn't flat you know. we as humans have advanced a little. These princaples are out dated and potentialy dangerous. Can you imagine a nation/contenent on a list equal to the endangerd animal list! for what?
Thousands are dying because of such ignorance (so much for morality and decency,I ask you what religion can live on if there is not anybody to carry it on,to spread the word if you will?) because they wouldn't go against the pope. How can he sit their in his little country (The Vatican) and control the destiny of such folk. Should they not choose their own path and moral principles when it comes to their own health and well being? for example I'm sure if it was his daughter the pope would want them to use protection against such ill effects
Would it not benefit your common goal (spreading the gospel) if they where alive?
Lust:
Is this not our natural drive to procreate and survive in our natural environment? is this not genetically imprinted into us? if it is would this not have been put their by your so called god?
you are so not no the ball, I see brainwashing can work you wouldn't like it if you got it so don't stop others in far less developed countries from having the best chance of life, such ignorance makes me sick. these pepole who cant afford or reach such medical help as you take for granted(it would seem) it's all well and good when you know your doctor is on 24Hr, call isn't it

Maybe it would support to write down letters to one another to mention whatever and the whole lot that you simply must get out. A lot of occasions whilst you are arguing with one one more, any one will get interrupted and also you would get irritated and fail to remember what you have been truthfully attempting to speak about within the first location. If you cross with this thought, you will have to additionally write and skim the letters individually and take a little time to relatively appreciate what the opposite man or woman is pronouncing. When you get to the basis of an quandary, recognition on how they are feeling and not more on how you are feeling in response to what they are pronouncing. For example, if one in every of you says you will have extra childcare accountability than the opposite, the basis of the quandary is also that one mother or father is feeling beaten and prefer they are no longer getting sufficient "on my own time" to loosen up, pray, meditate, and so on. However, the "accused" mother or father will almost certainly best recognition on feeling like they're being referred to as out on being a foul mother or father they usually might omit how the beaten mother or father is feeling, in order you know the way you converse may be very valuable. One different supply of rivalry is also that the connection would believe one-sided and "unfair" because that your moved moved go nation for the sake of 1 spouses profession and no longer always as a determination for the loved ones as a entire. Maybe it is a supply of resentment? Make definite that you're each doing all your pleasant to paintings as a group and meet every others bodily, emotional, and religious demands.

Whoo-hoo! Good for you Enigma!
It was called the Council of Lambeth...and look at what has happened to the world since then!
Humane Vitae so perfectly, and unfortunately accurately predicted what would happen with easily accessible birth control....degradation of women, legalized abortion on demand, euthanasia, a society where sex is a commodity....we have all that and MORE!
Yes ladies and gentlemen....now CHILDREN are a commodity too! To be manufactured if glass dishes or sucked into a sink at whim....that's ok, though, we can make MORE!
Anyone who disagrees with what enigma has written needs to sit and really think about it. We are smack in the middle of the Culture of Death.
What are you going to do about it???

I must have miss-read my Bible. I thought that the love of money is the root of all evil (social problems) Plus, I thought that the reason for the invention of birth control was to prevent pregnancy not FOR lust. I am not much a Bible scholar, but I think when God commanded us to "go fill up the earth" He did not mean with all your Catholic crap. Spare us the marriage counseling, 50 % plus of marriages already fail and I doubt that you are going to change that by your Popish, draconian measures of forced pregnancies and unwanted babies. Except upward. Why not move to China? I heard they are now paying women to have more babies to support their dramatic falling birthrate as a result of their demonic one child per couple policy of the last few decades. Besides, I need a new pair of cheap Nikes. Size 9 ½ please.

Ok, it is for lust that God allows you to have a mate. So you can take out the desires of the flesh with them, in order to free your mind to concentrate back on God and the things he'd hve you do in your life. Afterall, who allows us to have pleasure in sex anyway. As far as birth control goes. That to me is more of a personal deal between a couple. Wife used BC pills. Stopped taking them. We had two kids. She stayed off any pills. I don't like condoms. so we just would let it be on Gods decision. It took 7 years before we had our third child. Two years after that. I got snipped. Do I think it's wrong. Nope. Matter factly. I think it was a good choice because my wife is 37 and having children as a woman gets older, is rougher on them and we figured enough was enough. And I believe it's in Corithians where it mentions it's better to marry than burn with lust.

Another example of why religion is not good for society.
If people were allowed to use birth control without FEAR from this thing called god and religion most marriages would last longer.
Funny how people get married in church thinking the marriage is "blessed by god" and four years later it winds up ending in a divorce
