"The Old Testament prohibitions against homosexuality in the Books of Leviticus (chapter 18, v.22; chapter 20 v.13) and Deuteronomy
are essentially provisions of the Jewish Law. Those Christians who base their disapproval of homosexuality on them must be prepared to state whether or not they are prepared to keep the other provisions of the Jewish Law." (Margaret Evans)

apmresearch@...How can the Bible with so many versions and so many different interpretations provide any sort of moral compass for anybody. no two Christians can agree on it's meaning it is so imprecise.

As a look at old Jewish law; a speculation of what those times must have been like. I think, however, that it is too anachronistic to apply to today's situation. I think all of the rules about homosexuality in the bible are outdated, actually, not just in Leviticus.

Leviticus is the old law or "the old covenant" In the new testement however we are givin a new covenant and some new laws. Some people think they replace the old laws. Some people think that they are added to the old laws (which would be difficult as many of them seem contradictary at best)
However The new testement does mention homosexuality, and does say something about it being wrong. The bible may have been inspired by god but it was written by human beings who are as fallible as you and I. If your gay and you believe in christ and the sacrifice made then my suggestion is this. Pray about it alot. Go in the direction you feel that god is leading you. Just understand that as a human being you too are fallible. You might get it wrong. You may do the wrong thing. God knows where your heart is and what your intentions are. Work it out with him. Your relation ship with god is between you and him, not some idiot posting on the web cause he's got nothing better to do (I include myself in that).

Most things mentioned in Leviticus have been left behind, because it is inconvenient. Any Christian wearing something 2% spandex is sinning (mixing fabrics). Any who breed mules (mixing animals) or rotate crops (despite being more efficient) go to Old Testament Hell. Not to mention partaking in some seafoods, as well as eating winged things that crawl on all fours (like a gargoyle or mutated chicken).
It may be god's word, but what about everything else in Leviticus?

I am a Christian Pastor that believes the word of God is unchanging.
I also believe that Jesus Christ fulfilled the LAW.
But in my opinion that meant that he fulfilled once and for all the penalty of the LAW.
I can find no where that Christ said, start another religion.
The laws of God provide a moral compass for society.

Well I guess the real question should be does the Old Testament really prohibit homosexuality in general or certain homosexual acts?

Yes the Jewish laws that Jesus did not tell us were done away with at his death are still in effect. Ever read the ten commandments?

Mostly we accept that as Gods law not just etiquette because of what God did to Sodom and Gomorrah. And of course Christ reminds of that destruction in the new testament.
This is the answer. If you do not accept that you will accept nothing.

Ummm, you're way off.
The New Testament also speaks against it.
And, so does nature itself.
Problem with you is, you never sat down to read what it says. That's why you quote only from the Old Testament.

If you look in the book of Ephesians 5:22-28 it say that wives and husbands submit to each other not wives and wives nor husbands and husbands.

You forget that God gave those laws, and Jesus said He came to "fulfill" the law not to destroy it.
No one can justify perversion from the Bible-even when they use quotes from apostates like Evans. Get over it.
