A lot of violence in towns and cities is fueled by alcohol, including domestic violence. People lose their jobs, homes, and relationships through alcoholism.

Yet there has never been, as far as I know, tabacco or cigarette fuelled violence, nor violence caused by 'binge smoking', nor any drink-smoke campaigns. So why the emphasis over smoking, when excess alcohol consumption is a bigger social problem?

Im ashamed to say ive smoked throughout two pregnancies (both children healthy and happy) but Im at the point now where I really want to stop, for health, social and financial reasons but I find the whole concept of not smoking really hard, and more so because I think I couldnt even do it for my children

I only want replies from people who understand the addiction, no anti smokers please

Saving money for their kids education. From my personal experience it seems like something that the african amerian community needs to invest in. Less time and money on rims and baby phat and more saving money for USC. I want to hear what people have to say about this

This is a general question and I want some good answers. Thanks.

well first off my family is from ethiopia. i went there a couple of summers ago and i saw so many like beautiful loving people but so many homeless kids..i know that ethiopia has so much potential though..ive always wanted to do something to make a difference there. my mom's brothers have tried to get involved in politics to help the country but they ended up disappearing and we think they are dead. but my point is i suggested to my dad that we should start like a fundraiser and do something from our church. he told me that he doesnt want to get involved because he probably get killed. i totally belive him because i mean i have to admit africa's governemtn is torn up and they will kill you. but my dad was like americans are safe its just ethiopians that try to help b/c the gov. thinks that they are trying to plan something i guess. anyways my point is is it possible to open a fundraiser in church and just save up the money and bring people from the church to ethiopia and actually open

Let me just preface this by saying that I think AA is a great thing and the people involved should be thanked for agreeing to participate in it...Ok, with that out of the way, I recently went to a AA meeting because, frankly, I wanted to see what it is about...I heard some absolutely horrendous stories of things some people did in the throws of their addiction and when I left the meeting I could not help but ask myself,
"How could any honest person live with themselves knowing they were guilty of such horrid behavior?"....
So, question; if someone feels that no real fitting punishment has come their way for something they did do you think it is acceptable for them to take their own life?

That is something I will never understand. Like this story of the boy killing this huge wildhog http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070525/ap_on_fe_st/monster_pig All I could think was the poor animal has been living for so long and was part of nature, now killed and left many of its members behind. What good did that do ? The boy was so proud of his kill and for what? Human, I guess, is probably the meanest creature that God has ever created. Killing for fun and recreation ?

so are they? Because on the back of the one dollar bill, above the eagle there are 13 stars--connect the dots and it makes a 6 pointed star, better known as the star of david(but that has nothing to do with it). Carry the star over the pyramid and eye. They point to the letters in the latin phrases M-A-S-O-N-S, that is varified proof that these symbols were chosen by freemasons! And the phrases are SUPPOSED to be two different phrases, but together it translates to something about a new world order.

And 6 of the 56 signers of the declaraction of indenpendence are varified freemasons. 11 of the 36 signers of the constitution were varified freemasons.

For example, if I were to ask "What makes you unique?" For sure atleast one person will say something along the lines of "everyone is unique" or "No two people are the same so everyone is different."

So I was just wondering why some people take everything so serious or literal. Most of the questions on here aren't serious questions anyways so why take them that way

I know this sounds like either a stupid question or a bashing but this is a serious question. Amongst every person I have ever known or presently know, the country of Mexico does not seem to be at all a country of vital importance to the rest of the world. I know that Mexico does have a few minor things that they contribute toward society, such as tequila, beer, and cheap trinkets that are sold as souvenirs to tourists, but what I and others that have brainstormed this subject want to know is:
What significance does Mexico hold to the all the great nations of the world?
Countries are known to the rest of the world by what they contribute toward the rest of society as a whole. Some countries overseas make great cars, cheese, electronics, clothing, etc. Mexico does seem to have great beaches, scenery, culture and might be a nice place to go on vacation but I still do not have any idea what else is the importance of Mexico as a country. Can anyone please explain this to me?

Many times poverty is increased (especially in third world nations) when more children are born to a couple (or woman) then they can support. Could abortion help this problem if it was offered free in poverty stricken areas?
