It is vastly different. Slavery was abolished in 1990 and also the dinosaurs went extinct. But the biggest difference is that the neanderthals evolved into the mess we now call mankind.

It's not terribly different, we have more technology and gadgets...

In 1990, not nearly everyone had a computer at home
Even some smaller businesses were not yet computerized
DVDs and CDs
Huge-screen TVs and HDTV
Video games were not as sophisticated
Cell phones were not commonplace
Hardly any reality TV
Prices were lower on goods and services
Still some original, musical songs

I can't think of too much else that was much different than today. Maybe more people working when their children are under the age of five--which I don't think is a great thing.

The Internet. In 1990, some people had primitive e-mail through a local bulletin board on a really slow dial-up connection (I'm talking like 1400, not even 14k), but the Web wasn't something many people had access to, and it was also pretty primitive -- no Flash, no video clips, no file-sharing, no a lot of things we take for granted now (heck, no Google, even -- I don't know if it existed, but back in the earlier times, Yahoo was the big search thing).

In 1990 we had a Bush who just wanted Iraq's leader to control himself, his people and sell us cheap oil, now we have a Bush who thinks he can put any flunky in to do that job because he dodged Vietnam thus learning nothing from it.
We have lost a great deal of freedom in the West while the rich in the East have stolen the majority's assets.
Those are the just the Headlines
