I never hear about black kids shooting up their school and targeting only white people.

The public school situation in poverty-stricken areas in America is obviously rough and dropout rates are high. Youth are faced with temptations to resort to selling drugs.

What is the viable alternative for students who make the choice to work hard and graduate from high school? I ask this because I grew up in a middle/upper-middle class home and graduated from a good college (with a psychology degree) in four years, and still had trouble finding decent employment after graduation (I worked in after-school care for a little while).

What do inner-city youth who "stay in school" end up doing? What can be done to create better alternatives for these students?

there's some dudes that live across the street from me and whenever I leave my house and I see them , I feel uncomfortable. Sometimes when they see me they laugh but I'm not sure if they're laughing at me but I assume they are. How can I feel more comfortable when I'm around them and how can I ignore whatever they say or do so I can get on with my life.

I guess so. People everywhere say that I'm perfect. That I have the most perfect face, most perfect set of teeth they've ever seen, and most importantly, a sculpted physique like that of a god. I also have a breath so fresh, which all people love to catch a whiff on, and a body scent like that of perfume. So I'm just wondering if there's someone more handsome than me. And if there is, please let me see a photo of said person. Cause I honestly don't think it's possible.

If you look at all of our today's popular minority music(hip hop, r&b, rap) It's mostly all Africans. I'm suprised they are on T.V. and have so many awards for their singing. How did they develop such beautiful voices? I mean my great granddad would be upsete if he saw how far Africans have gone in American since his time. I mean even fifty years ago it would have been unthinkable to see the Africans shown so positive in the media. What a strange world. Has America gone soft? Has the slavery guilt really effected our world so much? I mean it was during my great great granddaddy's time.

I think that we just show love to the children no matter what the situation because kids are kids and they should not be put in the middle a harmful situation.

I've been out of high school almost 2 years and while I miss the social dynamic over it, not a day goes by that I don't thank God for getting me out of there alive. But I still have friends, some of whom who have punked out on missions, dropped out of college and even gotten pregnant, who still go back to visit teachers on a monthly to weekly basis. The only time I've been back was to get my transcripts.

How long did it take you to over come the need to be inside the familiar halls of your high school?

I recently travelled to Ethiopia, and even with all the disease and famine, I saw one theme: people sticking together to help each other and keep their communities going.

Once you see that, and then return to the USA and see us bickering over spending an additional 100 dollars a year to help others with healthcare, well, it makes you wonder...

It seems to me like a lot of people make rude comments when they've been drinking and later excuse it by saying that they couldn't help it because they were drunk. I'll admit that I act pretty silly when I'm drunk, but I still know what I am saying and doing. I still know not to cross certain lines such as telling somebody they are fat, making racist remarks, etc. Does anybody else think that people are just using drinking as an excuse to say and do the things they want to anyway? If you have said something dumb while drinking, did you really mean it...even if maybe you pretended not to later?
