i dont really get whats wrong with sarcasm. maybe its because im english and i have a different sense of humor, but i just never get it when americans talk about sarcasm like its the height of rudeness. its just a form of comedy, whats wrong with it?! they seem to talk about it as if it means your rude, cocky or insincere, but thats not what sarcasm is. sarcasm is just irony in a humerous and often cynical context. even if you say a rude and ignorant comment using sarcasm, its not the sarcasm thats rude, its what your comment means. PLEASE someone explain! also, do americans usually just NOT use sarcasm in the funny way, just the rude way? in that case they are sooooo missing out! no wonder they had to change 'the office' thats full of irony, sarcasm and such like. im not saying that americans have a bad sense of humour, im just wondering if maybe thats why they dont 'get' some british comedy.

My friend and I were envited to a Bunco Game last night (12 women playing dice) and while we were visiting with the host of the party, my friend as the lady how she felt about her daughter marring a "colored man". (there was a family picture on the wall she had noticed.) My friend had an awful tone in her voice when asking the question. The host stated she didnt mind and that all that was important to her was that her son in law treated her daughter well. (I could tell the host was affended) I was so embarrased that my friend would say that. I knew she came from a prejudice family but had never seen her in that kind of situation. I came home feeling awful. Do I say something to my friend about how it made me feel when she said that? Because honestly if I were to hear something like that again from her, I dont know if I would continue our friendship.

America uses the Imperial system, so we don't know what they're talking about when they tell us that "Paris is 75 Kilometers away." Why don't they switch to our system so that we're all on the same page? The Metric System just doesn't make sense.

After years of moving and hunting could I just chop down some trees, build a cabin and live? I suppose sooner or later somebody would find me. Then Id have to defend whats mine with my life.
So the end result of wansting to be free is either imprisonment or death? There must still be a way a man can just opt out of society and live away and alone in the wilderness.

Nursing Profession, Recovering from the Leakage

The issue of the 2006 Nursing Board Exam leakage didn’t disappoint anyone in showing how massive it can damage the Nursing Profession in the Philippines. This controversy is still alive after more than half a year since it exploded and things are not showing any sign of improvement. So how do we salvage the already fragile image of the Nursing Profession in the Philippines?

The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS International) has decided that those Philippine nurses who were sworn in as licensed nurses in the Philippines following their passing the compromised licensure exam of June 2006 are not eligible for a VisaScreen Certificate. It has concluded that the licensure process raises significant questions about the accurate assessment of the competencies of many of those individuals.
