America uses the Imperial system, so we don't know what they're talking about when they tell us that "Paris is 75 Kilometers away." Why don't they switch to our system so that we're all on the same page? The Metric System just doesn't make sense.

LOL Well this should generate a lot of those "You americans!" comments which I'm guessing is exactly what you wanted.

Why does America still use the outdated Imperial system? Many of us are quite conversant with the metric system and prefer it over the nonsensical Imperial.

The metric system is based on powers of ten and makes calculations and conversions much easier. We should adopt it not only to fit in with the rest of the world, but to save ourselves a lot of pain.

When is our education system going to realize that teaching our kids something other than the metric system is a waste of time. We should be learning only the metric system, that way we are never confused as adults when trying to understand it. Everything in medicine is in the metric system. Doctors and nurses spend alot of time relearning how to measure things correctly just because they were taught wrong in the first place.

You're a twit. The metric system makes more sense; Americans (myself included) are just too lazy to learn something new. We prefer to be spoon-fed. The metric system is based on tens and is very easy to learn. A foot is 12 inches which is based on an approximation of some dude's foot. A mile is 5,280 feet unless you mean nautical mile which is different.

The US is one of the few countries left in the world to use the Imperial system and is the one who need to get on the right page
Metric is easier to use as every thing is in multiples of 10's No difficult calculations

Hell you don't even call a gallon a gallon
A US gallon is 3.785 litres.
To the rest of the would a gallon is 4.546 litres.
The difference is .761 litres = the size of a bottle of wine.

America is pretty much the only country that doesn't use the metric system. Honestly I think that we should change, it would certainly makes things easier for foreigners who move here and for Americans who travel to other countries.

Because the metric system is used in allmost all the world.
Why do americans think they are center of the Universe?

Why do Americans stupidly continue to use the imperial (monarchial) system? It is easier to do mathematical operations using the metric system!
