I think so. I see so many young people acting rude in public. Of course I feel it is the parents job to do this, but too many are busy and leave it to educators. Parents should be responsible for raising kids with morals and values and manners, it is the job they took on when they became parents.

I would like for someone to tell me how you teach character. Character is learned by observation of those around you. Politicians? How many can you name as examples. Corrupt business leaders? Enron!! Clergy that are getting busted? Teachers? You gotta be kidding, especially in public schools.
Since religion has been tossed out of school what are you going to use as a standard?

although some will argue, with good reason, about conformity and how character education should be taught
