My hat's off to you Jenny! I think you should explain to your friend how that made you feel. You don't have to be malicious or anything. Just let her know that times are differnet than when she was growing up and people are recognizing their are other people behind different shades of skin. Tell her she shouldn't limit herself or live in a box. She may gain new friends by opening her heart and mind and expanding her horizons.

Yes, you need to be honest with her, and try to have a calm discussion. If yur values are different, you may not be a good match as friends. You have to stand up to prejudice or you are also guilty. Ask her if she thought about how it would make the woman feel when she said that.

I would've called her out right then and there. Yes you should absolutely say something. For one tell your friend that you find her ignorance appalling and that she was an embarassment to you when she did that. Secondly I would make it clear to the host of the party that you do not share your friends views.

Yes. You should tell her that she was out of line. You should call to apologize to the host. You should take a good look at this person to see if you really want her as a friend.

I have a feeling that if you say something (and I get the feeling you want to) that your friendship will be on the rocks if not end completely.
I wouldn't fault your friend for speaking her mind but she loses a lot of points for lack of discretion.

Always let your friends know how they make you feel, especially if you have a true friend. Don't be angry at her ignorance often times people don't realize there words and/or actions are hurtful. An if she truly is your friend she didn't mean to hurt you on purpose.

Yes. The way to fight prejudice is stand up and confront the racist. Talk to your friend and tell him or her how your feel. If your friend continues to do it, you might want to change who your friends are.

Of course you should say something to her. She needs to grow up and realize that it is not okay to act like that.

So what? It's her opinion. Are you saying only people like you should have an opinion? Only you should have a say?
