Marie Curie won two Nobel Prizes, one is Physics (1903) and one in Chemistry (1911). She's the only woman to hold two Nobel Prizes, was the first woman to receive one, and is one of two people to win two Nobel Prizes in two areas (the other is Linus Pauling)

So far 768 individuals and 19 organizations have been awarded the Nobel prize. Only 33 women have been granted this honour.
The International Red Cross has won the Nobel peace prize 3 times. Marie Cury won the Nobel prize for Physics one year and won the Nobel prize for Chemistry another year. In 2005, Barry Marshall and Robin Warren won the Nobel Prize for physiology or medicine. Ralph Bunch was the first african american to win the nobel peace prize. He won in 1950 for his peace negotiations in the middle east in 1948 and 1949. Mikhail Gorbachev won the Nobel peace prize in 1990. Winston Churchill won the Nobel prize for literature in 1953. Yes Literature!!!! He was a prolific writer. The Nobel Prize in economics has only been awarded since 1969. The winner for 2006 in economics was Edmund S. Phelps. Enrico Fermi won the Nobel prize for physics in1938 for his work with radioactive elements. Melvin Calvin won the nobel prize for chemistry in 1961 for his study of how plants utilize carbon dioxide. Yes, there will be an asterisk. And if we're lucky, it will be right over his fat head! Seems every news outlet is printing the same photo of Al doing his best Martin Luther King Jr. imitation of "hand on the chin, deep in thought" look. You'd think that the man that invented the Internet could at least come up with an original pose!!!
