Christmas is a great religious holiday. It is also a great time of year for people to remember others and a great way to have the opportunity to give. But let's go back to the commercialism. If Christmas wasn't commercialized how would our economy be? Retailers count on the last quarter (which the Christmas season falls under) to make the difference if they are profitable or not. Retailers employ thousands of seasonal people and contribute great economic security to people looking to make ends meet?
What couldn't be more noble? Not to mention this is looking just face deep the economy works on several scales one action will trigger thousands of more actions. The more commercialized Christmas becomes the greater our society becomes. It's probably one of the most selfless acts corporations do all year.

I do not mean short term, I mean completly change your life, I am not trying to be patronising, just trying to discuss that it would not be realistic to think that it could change anyones life that is sitting on the internet paying money to read this?

When anything bad happens to a black person in the media etc. you can count on 3 things: 1) Al Sharpton will get on tv, 2) Jesse Jackson will get on tv, and 3) black people will all be crying "racism." Why are black people so ******* paranoid all the time about this?! For example they're acting like those NYC guys that got shot were model citizens or something! It's ridiculous!

I have decided to take Oprah up on her challenge of paying it forward. When I was thinking about what to do, a few things seemed important: involving children, sending the money different directions, and giving the money a chance to multiply.

Here is my rough plan, and your suggestions are welcome.

I want to go into a local elementary school classroom with ONE dollar per student, so my investment would be about 30 bucks.

I want to pass out the money after explaining that:

The child can either KEEP the money OR
ADD a dollar to it and give it to someone who needs it OR
ADD a dollar to it and give it to someone who does NOT need it...encouraging THEM to ADD a dollar to it and pass the money...and so on.

What do you think? Personally, I think the LESSON given to and the DECISION made by each child would be more powerful than any dollar amount multiplied, plus if they talked to their parents about it, perhaps there would be an upward spiral of do-gooding.

I work in a call center and take about twice as many calls per day as the next highest person. I don't hear anything negative from my boss, but I don't hear anything positive either. Neither my boss nor my supervisor tries to include me in recent news or events (eg. bonus incentives, additional work loads, training new employees, handling calls from 'elite' agents) and just recently I observed a loud/flamboyant co-worker get promoted to the newly created position of 'senior cust. serv rep'. I try to ignore the feeling of not being included but realize this will balloon into a level of resentment that will eventually make me look for other employment. Is there a reason I'm being treated this way or am I the one blowing things out of proportion? I've already told my supervisor not to hesitate to delegate more responsibilites off to me but it is not working. IT seems only the 'chatty' people who over-socialize get the most recognition. Am I just out of balance or What can I do?

How are you doing now? I wish I could do more for those who need it. So I just volunteer when possible. Is there more I can do to help?

When you see people on the street and they ask for change do you help them out or tell them no? I try to give them whatever change I have. If I can spare more I will.

It was a few years ago and I was 25 at the time. I ran a fraud control team of 25 people at an MCI. I had a woman on my team that was 20 years old. She was a complete loon. Constantly coming in late and saying really digesting things at work. She got kicked out of her parent’s house and went off the deep end. Among other things she started getting really sloppy with her work and I began writing her up. Finally it was getting close to the point were she was going to be fired. My supervisor wanted to suspend her and we all meet in his office to tell her. As soon as he started mentioning suspension, she said she felt sexually harassed by me. At that point I left the room and HR was brought in to discuss. She made up a lot of things and referenced one true conversation I had with another manger months ago (Nothing to do with her, but it was off color humor). After a week long investigation I was cleared, but they never fired her. They moved her to another team and she continued her issues.

My question is how do I live the rest of my life without losing my mind or my life. If I were well I would move far away and work to earn a living. I can't do either. This man vowed to destroy me if I left him. How do I surrive?

These men are so controlling that they Appear not so bad, They are so insane. My x felt that the world existed only for him. That people & situations exist only for him. He changes reality so well that masses of people believe him. He kicks me in to a pit constantly. OK I know all about psychology. You might say"you let him kick you into the pit" yaddie yaddie yaddie.
It isn't easy to stand up to a sociopath. Many women have been killed by their psociopathic spouse.
I fear he will kill me. Even my family thinks that is a stretch. He betrays even his own kids and parents for his finacial well being.
What chance do I have? I am disabled. I am emotionally drainned from him. Where is there hope to get away from him? NO simple answers from those who don

By now everyone foretold that we would be out exploring space, we would be driving around in hover cars, living in space on space ships and there would be much advancement in technology.

Why do you think we haven't reached this as yet?

just found out that rev jesse jackson is calling for a ban of the n-word.

don't get me wrong, i dont' use it and i fully understand the meaning.

but isn't it one's right to use whatever words in speech as protected by the 1st amendment of the constitution?

what would happen to album sales of the rap artists who use it frequently? it's their right under freedom of expression to use it. the same right is given to every citizen of the US.

if you want to use it, then use it. there should not be a ban on it. people should just use a little common sense when using it.

anyone agree?
