I am not sure where you live but where I live, we are to call them "first nations ". I actually have a friend that has given me a native name. They say that the elders would give a name based on what they see as they begin to make the "name" decision. My buddy got up off the couch, stepped outside and just missed getting shot on the head with Eagle droppings. I received the name "Poopin' Eagle"! I think I would rather be known as "confused".

At times I like to search for the stars in the sky; they aren't easy to find in the polluted skies over New York City. I'm also pretty good at finding lost things.
I might also have a name involving a Deer, Moose, or Elk. Or maybe a Raccoon. Except I'm Black and...well...
Deer Woman, anyone? My church meets in a former Elks Club, so maybe Elk Woman.
