I just rifled through my co-workers desk drawer for a rubber band. I unwrapped a stack of cards and took the only one he had. As I was winding it around my fingers to put in my hair it broke! How's that for karma!?

In Yahoo! News there is an article regarding only 1 in 20 British people remembering the correct year that slavery was abolished.

My question is this: In a modern multicultural society that not only protects the rights of black people, but also every other known race, religion and sexuality, is it really a valuable thing to remind non-whites of the horrific treatment suffered by them 200 years ago?

I for one would have been more comfortable if it were a remembrance of the people that died and were abused during the years of slavery. A celebration of the end of it just seems to open fresh wounds and cause people to thing that they have done something wrong. This took place TWO HUNDRED YEARS AGO, sure we should remember, but is it something that needs to be dragged into the press and used as a perpetual reminder to black people that although they are now treated the same as any other Briton, back then they weren't?

For the record, I'm white, in case anyone wondered.

What makes you want to pick apart a persons image, music taste, or whatever else? Does it give people a boost of confidence? I just don't get it.

And please, no sarcastic answers like "a penis". I'm not talking about what makes one MALE..I'm talking about what makes one a "man", as in the GENDER. If you took a genetically born male and castrated him, would he cease to be a man? So..sex organs don't define our gender...so, what then, "makes a man a man"?

In my opinion he's too old to be playing video games, but he works 2 jobs so I can stay home with the kids. Should I just shut up and let him have this one (albeit annoying) hobby?

It has to do with parenting or the lack there of. Also the media and outside influences. If a parent who grew up wearing provocative and revealing clothing, might find herself thinking that it is ok for her child to do so. Some might think of what they went through and decide it is a bad choice. The fact that many 10-14 year olds dress in this fashion, I would think it has to do with the lack of parenting and resposibility that parents take. They are the ones that allow or buy the clothes. What about the media, of course, because many kids mimic their parents, but many other mimic what they see on television, movies and games. When "skanky" looking women are shown, many of these girls attribute the fashion to being beautiful. Then you have peer preassure, who in turn might make the girl feel that she has to dress in this fashion to fit it. Parents taking more responsiblity and monitoring what their daughters wear and do might help with this problem. Your thoughts?

Ofcourse it's natural to have urge for sensual pleasures by looking at men/women in different manner than the rest. But, what makes our mind think that we should fulfil the desire for sensual pleasure which is aroused in mind by looking at men/women.

And if we go into depth of question, first of all, Why does our mind even get aroused for sensual pleasures. What's the reason behind it.

I am not talking here about erection, because erection only takes place after arousal for sensual pleasures. And once arousal is controlled eveything else can be controlled towards having sensual pleasures, e.g. erection.

I have purposely used the term sensual pleasure to include all activities related to to our pleasures.

Of course that is my opinion and it's subjective, but nontheless it is something that I have grown to understand as I've grown.

Women not only have natural gift of carrying a child in their womb, but naturally are nurturing to the child after giving birth. This is something that men seem to possess little of. It is my opinion that women are more emotional, in a good and bad way, but they think things through rather than using brute force. Women are truly and amazing creature. Your thoughts?
