I think you have to use discretion. There are some people/situations where it just isn't worth it. If you feel you must speak your mind, you don't have to be rude about it. Why do people seem to think that speaking your mind will give you enemies?! Pick your battles then!
Sometimes the best thing to do is say 'oh really?!' and leave it at that!

It is always good to speak your mind, but it is also good to open your mind as well. Sometimes you can be wrong, and thats ok. But if you truly believe it then I don't see why not.

If you think it would cause a wedge between you and someone you are close to, or would like to stay close to, sometimes its better to just not say anything (either of you) Just agree to disagree.

YES.

Besides, what's life without enemies?. Always speak your mind. In the end, you might lose or you might win, but that's not the point.

You should always speak your mind. It may make some people unhappy but once they think about it, they may agree or make some changes.

I think it depends on how important the subject is to you. If it is something not very important I wouldn't speak my mind b/c it would cause friction... although if the subject is very important to I would probably voice my opinion. I would start out by saying I am not trying to offend anyone but here is my view point on....

Sometimes it makes you a better person to keep your mouth closed...it is not always important to others what's on your mind. We have enough enemies in our lives, why would anyone want to make more?

not necessarily. sometimes people use 'speaking my mind' or 'being truthful' as an excuse to be mean-spirited and nasty. they seem to do it in an effort to make themselves feel better about themselves.

if you can speak your mind and do it tactfully without hurting someone else then go for it. and ask yourself if what you are going to say is constructive and helpful or are you just 'flapping your gums'. just remember the old adage
'do unto others'

i always caution people not to ask for any opinion unless they really want to hear the truth, if they still insist then ............................

Modesty says you don't need to force your opinion on anybody. However, if asked, clearly speak your mind knowing you will offend many people. Especially if you are sure of yourself. Self confidence is exactly what political correctness is trying to defeat.

yes, i think this would make you a stronger person if you do this the only way you will get anywhere in life is if you can not be afrid and stick up for your self if you know you are right! good luck and dont ever be afrid to speak your mind.

Normally I live by "if you can't say anything nice say nothing at all"
but do defend your self, every idea has been thought and so has the right to be heard if the thinker wishes to voice it. Not all speekers should voice their thoughts but you always have the ooption.
Remember the golden rule "Treat others as you wish to be treated".
