There seem to be a lot of people who just don't know history. And they use their (inaccurate) facts to try to support arguments about current events, policy, etc. It's really disheartening to see such ignorance. I'm not talking about events in dispute, but basic facts. One doesn't have to be a scholar, but some general understanding of how we got where we are is useful.
