if we had all white colleges and a White Entertainment Televison station? If they did exist, they would be labeled as discriminative against minorities. I know that there are times when white people or other people of other ethnic backgrounds get into all black schools, but not very often. Now, don't go thinking that I'm a "racist" or anything, but one of my BLACK friends and I were talking about this yesterday and I just wanted to know what others thought.

Just to clear things up, this issue doesn't "bother" me. It's a simple, curious, never thought of before, f**kin question that I decided to ask. And Paul C, Gabrielle Union appeared in season 7, Aisha Tyler in season 9... of FRIENDS.

We defiantly live in an *** backwards world don't we. No wonder kids are growing up stupid what should be right is wrong and whats wrong is right. Try explaining this stuff to a five year old kid, I don't know how to. Wish we lived in a simple world that was easier to explain to my own children, screwed up when a 5 year old sees things everyone else doesn't.

There are plenty of white channels.
Start with:

NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox

I am a minority, but not black. And 95 % of their crap programming does not appeal to me. You don't stop to notice that they are leaving out everyone but whites, as long as they entertain you. Then if something that might entertain others comes on you question it?

Why can't there be a WET? The real answer is it would never survive having to compete with the network stations and all the other regular channels. It isn't me stopping it. I say as long as it doesn't spread hatred go for it. One more white channel isn't going to bother me as long as Ethnic channels are left alone too. Why does BET and other specialty channels work? Because they are making markets that those people don't want.

I don't know why 1 or 2 channels out of 250 not directed to your interests should make you notice. You should have noticed that all of the other 248 channels didn't appeal to everybody before hand.

Edit RE: Friends: So this best selling show about 6 white buddies allowed a couple blacks on in year 7? I bet it was a big deal? Ground breaking? I think you make our point for us. Why wasn't Friends about 3 whites, 2 blacks and an Asian? Becuase white people wouldn't watch it. Survivor is coming out with a cast that is only 25% white. The White politically correct want to sell that it is racist and give advertisers a chance to pull out. The advertisers just want out because it is only 25% white.

There are nonetheless a great form of colleges that are "traditionally white" in a undeniable experience. till the mid-twentieth Century, maximum faculties different than the "traditionally black" ones did no longer admit black scholars in any respect. The others had quotas strictly restricting the form of minorities, particularly African-human beings and Jews. additionally, for many faculties, women folk. those self same faculties (such because of the fact the Ivies and a great form of different prestigious faculties) have preferential admission policies for "legacies," it is, the youngsters/grandchildren of alumni - that's how George W. Bush have been given into Yale with such awful grades; his ancestors had long gone there. Now, if for the 1st a hundred and fifty to 250 years of your college's existence it became into whites-in basic terms, what shade will your "legacies" be? Duh. Many extra no longer worth applicants are admitted to faculties under "legacy" provisions than under any affirmative action application. it is totally racism, and those faculties would desire to be stated as out on it.

your spot on my friend, it does seem weird that the black communities and their leaders want seperate facilities for there own kind, but in reverse us whites would be slaughtered for even suggesting such a thing, however if you look a little deeper you will find there is actually lots of occasions where seperation is in action around the world even amongst white on whites, for example here in Scotland the catholic church insist on seperate schooling for all school age children, the teachers in these exclusive catholic schools are 99%catholic and yet the funding comes from the public purse.any time someone brings up the subject they have a fit,and start screaming religious discrimination ect.ect.
so although it is strange to our way of thinking it is not in any way unique, one of the problems it does cause in lots of ways is seperation, kids who have grown up together suddenly are pushed in different directions and most of the religious divides in our country has its grass routes because of these types of policies,(maybe thats what they are trying to achieve)
The good thing that I picked out of your question is that you state your friend who is black were discussing the issue, good for you both, its very important that us ordinary folk keep doing whats right no matter what barriers politicians or leaders put in our path.
have a nice day.
lol

Well i think part of the answer lies in the simple fact that most media and instiutions that dont explicity aim to reach out to minority groups are implicity assumed to endorse the majority. There is little need for a "WET" so to speak because if you look at what you find on most tv stations you will find disproportially high numbers of caucasians, throughout many different genres and mediums. To blatantly declare that a given network or any instution endorsing the dominant group in society is fundamentally more prejudice than instiutions or networks which aim to promote understanding or embrace aspects of minority culture.

In short there is little need for the things you describe as most "non-ethnic" or "non-minority" instiutions in some way support and endorse the dominant culture.

Hi. I actually answered something similiar to this question before-If the 'white folks' start to organize any kind of group based just upon being 'white folks' then it runs the risk of being called Racist. An interesting comment I heard about this was that soon the 'black folks','gay folks' 'latin folks' etc. will become just another human grouping. Racism is widely beaten down today, but the first human group to take that beating was the 'white folks', so they are forever going to be a stereotyped example of what a Racist is. In defense of 'white folks' that were never racist (yes there actually ARE some-don't get all Bigot on me for saying so). We are all going to start to notice that the latin race is the most 'oppressed' today- in my rotten town, even the 'black folks', and the 'gay folks' are egging their houses! Same for anyone of a mideastern look to them-but that is because of the latest war.?. At any rate, If you want to find racism and bigotry, you will! Most humans are just too busy trying to make a living to worry about this stuff. It is the government and media that shoves it down our already choking throats.....
