I'm asian american. I do not stare at people. I think it's very rude to stare at people. I have noticed that white people stare at me though. When I go to the store or fill up my gas tank, some white people stare at me negatively as if they are thinking "dumb chink".
Now I get stared at by hispanics mainly and blacks, and yes I even get stared at by asian people too. It's very rude and unacceptable. These people weren't taught any manners.

I live in Texas and people stare at me like they have never seen an asian before. When I go to the VA hospital, it's the white and black veterans that stare and glare at me with hate as if I remind them of the Vietnam war. I am not vietnamese but asian and they just stare at me.

So not all asians stare. I do not stare because I have manners.
I think that if you lived in San Francisco, yes the asians do stare there, but like I said before, they stare at me too and I look normal and conservative.

Perhaps the people that stare at you have no manners. Don't stereotype all asian people as staring but I know what you mean, it's very uncomfortable. The best bet is too ignore it. Usually when people give nasty looks or stare it's their problem.

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. what many do not want to admit or say. Is many Asian want to be like Caucasians. that is why they are so quick to adapt Western customs and dress. Specially the young. I have read passages from Asian authors(many from around WWII era)and many wanted to be like Americans(those running things)i.e. Caucasians. Because they seen Caucasians as smooth, cultured, and successful. Plus the men were taller than Asian men. And if you care to investigate, old Asian was about status as much as anyone. Just as Jim Crow is handed down from generation to generation here. Some of those traits could have been handed down through the generations there.

Or.....maybe you are 430lb, have a bad hair cut, is a "little people" or something else out of the norm that makes them stare.

Why do men stare at girls walking on the street, shopping, on the beach, any no of things?
Why do women always check each other out to see what the other person is wering, does it look better than herself.
Why do little kids watch grown ups so closely.
If you are driving through a small town on your way somewhere, have you noticed how they stop and stare at you.
People like to look around, at those around, each other. It gives them an idea about the world at large and in a way, also gives them something to think about themselves too.

Asians like to "be in your space". A whole resturant could be empty and and they will come over and sit next to you. Not to bug you, but that is their culture. They are used to being around LOTS of people. I find it rude. I don't know why they are staring at you. But you should have said something. Asians will overcrowd you if you let them.

You remind me this poem...

When I born, I black.
When I grow up, I black.
When I go in sun, I black.
When I cold, I black.
When I scared, I black.
When I sick, I black.
And when I die, I still black.
You white folks...
When you born, you pink.
When you grow up, you white.
When you go in sun, you red.
When you cold, you blue.
When you scared, you yellow.
When you sick, you green.
When you bruised, you purple.
And when you die, you gray.
So who YOU callin' C O L O R E D ??
