Suppose you have been away from someone or something that you love for a long time. Then you get together again and, of course, you wanna spend as much time as you can with that person or thing you once missed so much. My question: what expression do you use to express the idea of " iwanna spend time so as to stop missing it or her or he...? in other words, I want to stop this longing feeling...

I can write and I love to write but I can't converse with other people (in English). I can talk to myself and sometimes with my friends. Recently I blew off a scholarship interview because I can't talk fluently. I'm rather shy with strangers too.

Reading up on the english language, I discovered that there was once a time (thousands of years ago) English sounded very little like it sounds now, after the Normans invaded British territory. I think it sounded more like todays German and the Scandanavian languages So ,How do you think it will sound like 1000 years? 500 years? 100 years? your thoughts.

(Oh the joys of wikipedia)... I was searching for a song by the Decemberists, and ended up looking at the page of the Soviet Union National Anthem. The first word of the soviet union national anthem was Soyuz.

"Soyuz nerushimy respublik svobodnykh" is apparently russian for "Unbreakable Union of freeborn Republics" (according to that page on wikipedia)

Does that mean that soyuz means "unbreakable"? That would make sense. Or does it mean "freeborn"? or none of the above, is that translated literally or did they put it in their own words?
