Judging from many of the questions and answers on this forum, I would say not! The general standard of spelling & grammar is appalling! What do people from other countries think (I am in Australia)

I've been on Yahoo Answers more or less since it started. I don't claim to be an expert in grammar, spelling, or punctuation. In fact, all the red marks on my papers would suggest otherwise. Yet I am stunned at how many adults on here post in something that is borderline gibberish. I'm not talking about text message codes like "LOL" or "OMG" but rather words misspelled or misused, no punctuation, atrocious grammer, and horrible sentence structure that sometimes makes no sense at all. How is it that these people graduated high school? How do they get jobs or even learn how to use a computer? Is this a problem with American education, or have our standards sunk so low that this type of brutality to the English language is completely acceptable? I'm actually looking for serious replies. What the hell is wrong with our country?

Hi, I really need to ck these two phrases to insure accuracy. I want them to say "Faith and Strength". Now the second Latin phrase may translate into Strength of Mind, is this Correct?

"Fides et Fortitudo" --> Does this mean mean Faith and Strength?

"Fides et Constantia" What is the Constantia translate into?

And finally :) are these phrases constructed properly...conjugation etc.

I know it means love b/c I have a bracelet that has the word in different languages, but I don't know what language this one is. I tried some translation things online, but none of them have given me a language. So if anyone knows what it is, please tell me!! Thanks!! XOXO

In former times studying a modern foreign language meant learning to read and write it and also speak it. A recent proposal in the UK is to offer a language qualification which does not require all three. I was wondering that if you are fluent in another language(s), can your native language develop a slight accent that one of your learnt languages have?

For example if your native language was English then you learnt Russian and became fluent in it, is it possible your English accent would develop a slight Russian accent?

I'm just mainly wondering if your native language is English can your accent be influenced by learning another language?
