it's a matter of respect for the mother animal. It's possible that the kid was slaughtered in front of it's mother and to cook it in milk- possibly it's own mother's milk- would be considered cruel to the mother goat. Therefore, as time went on Jewish law became such that we no longer take any chance of that and do not mix ANY dairy product with ANY meat product- not in preparation, not in cooking and not in eating. This is part of "keeping Kosher"

Exactly what is sounds like. It meant that the meat of one goat could not be boiled in milk that came from its own mother. This was considered very disgusting and immoral. Orthodox Jews today don't have meat together with milk at the same meal.

The goat-milk marinade will make the dish overly goaty. Goaty is good, too goaty is... goaty.
Wait, does this mean we can't stuff ground piglet in natural casing... oh *snap*!

It means if you do a barrel roll in an area that it is not good to do a barrel roll in the chances are the barrel roll will fail and you'll end up like Terri Schiavo.
