I am going to a local college this fall to take some classes that will help me achieve a major in "International Studies" and a minor in "Linguistics"...

Is Russian or Latin easier to learn? Which will benefit me the most? Would it be difficult to learn both at the same time since they are so different?

I wish to learn "Finnish" as well, but the college doesnt offer it... will knowing Russian help me learn Finnish easier?

If I write colour, tumour, humour, rumour, etc.... and check for my spelling, Yahoo comes up with the americanized version... .Why oh why should the Yahoo UK site correct (or mark as mistake) words that are written with a British spelling rather than American?

2 of India"s claasical languages
we have often came up with debate which is older and such, nevertheless both langauges are asset to the Indian soil.
These are 2 languages which gave rise to other Indian languages spoken now.
Sanskrit is hardly Spoken, at times it is also considered a dead language, but still lives in the rythm of the Vedas,
Tamil is still living,
-But what importance is India giving to these 2 languages in order to hold up it"s rich history
-Is there anything done or is it jus like a water flowing freely finding it"s way

I'm translating a thing for a Japanese SF convention, and I could use some help with these idioms. Links are very much appreciated!

目されていた「宇宙気流」に掲載されたことの影響は大きくetc.
Something like "the noted 'Space Stream' was published and had a great effect on etc."?

大きな目で見た場合作家側がある程度SFの本質の線を通すこと
From a wider view?

それに目をつけた柴野さんがetc.
Shibano saw this and etc.

Also, I'd like to know why 上梓 (above the catalpa tree?) means to publish.

(-: Thanks for any help or links you can give me!

I don't want to attend classes as I'm much more comfortable learning at a faster pace than in a classroom, and I don't have a lot of money to spend. Any suggestions?

Every time I see someone spell it as one it annoys me. And I suck at spelling and grammer as you can probably tell from this.

Os iusti meditabitur sapientiam,
Et lingua eius loquetur indicium.

Beatus vir qui suffert tentationem,
Quoniqm cumm probates fuerit accipient coronam vitae.

Kyrie, ignis divine, eleison
O quam sancta, quam serena, quam benigma, quam amoena
O castitatis lilium

The words above are the lyrics of a song entitled "Lilium". It is a very beautiful and meaningful song. The composition is great and the singing is phenomenal. If you can also provide an accurate translation into English I will reward you best answer.
