Spanish for "fool". Sorry.

In Portuguese that means 'silly'.
It isn't very offensive to say 'tonto', but it all depends on the context of the conversation.
It can mean 'dizzy' too, but if she called you that, it means she was calling you 'silly'.
If she is Portuguese, she meant it well, most of the times, 'tonto' is used in a caring way.

In Spanish "tonto" means fool or stupid, but don't worry, maybe it refers to the Lone Ranger companion...

Tonto was the Lone Ranger's trusty Native American sidekick.

The Lone Ranger was a goody-goody cowboy type, going around helping the needy and oppressed and all that stuff, in an old American TV programme. Hi ho Silver, and all that.

So you can be a Spanish fool or a trusty sidekick. You decide.

Wasn't Tonto the Lone Ranger's Indian pal? The name probably means pal or friend.

'Tonto' means silly in Spanish and 'tonterias' means nonsense. It was chosen as a name for Lone Ranger's companion by the white American inventors of LR to denigrate the N. American Indians - a racist slur - suggesting that they are stupid and silly.
Someone is trying to do likewise to you.

This person may like you or not, it depends the way how this person call you!
