Is it gramaticallym correct to say There IS a man and a woman on the beach or should it have been There ARE a man and a woman on the beach?

But if there's a series of single items, do we use is or are?

I use to have an Italian friend who called his dad "Ba". I have never came across another Italian family that called their dad Ba though. Is this common?

Fiona is my other dog. She is 1 years old. She's a brownish red color and she's really fat. She likes to bark at you when you don't give her enough attention. She likes to get phoebe in trouble by taking food from the table and giving it to her so it looks like she took it.

Gubgub is my favorite. He's a siamese cat and he likes to play and bask in the sun with the dogs. He loves to eat chicken, but in order to get some he must earn it. He either sits or lays down depending on what you tell him.

Jeneva is my cousin. She was the born February 12th 1994. She's taller than me and has brown eyes and hair. Sometimes she gets annoying but other wise she's great. She likes to make clay stuff and talk alot. She has two older brothers.

Jason was born October 28th 1992. He is my favorite cousin because he has similar interests to mine, like music. He likes to draw and make stuff using the computer. He is very funny and kind. He has brown hair and eyes.

Joey is my cousin and he was born dec. 27th 1990. He likes to skate board and hand out with his friends. He is friendly but if you treat him like he was a nobody he'll treat you the same way. Like his siblings, he is tall with brown hair and eyes.

Phoebe is my dog. She is 7 years old and is the better of the 2 dogs that we have. She loves to eat and rip her toys. Her favorite thing to do is sleep on her bed. She's white with brown eyes

hi,
i am native english speaker, i am learning spanish, but i was thinking since i am still young, why not take the oppotunity and learn more language, my interest is international relation n' stuff. right now all i have available around me are french and german. so, with spanish i am learning for over 2 years now and that i speak english from the day i was born, which language of french and german should i choose to study??
