I saw this piece of paper with what I think is something typed out in Greek. I took a picture of it and uploaded it to photobucket hoping someone here could translate it into English for me because I am pretty curious as to what it says. The picture is at this url: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y153/charger69o5/2-1.jpg

I am curious to find out why the Irish continue to use English when they have their native language of Gaelic? Other formerly colonized countries or oppressed regions like Korea or the Basque Country successfully preserved their languages which now flourish but why not the Irish? I know they have areas where Gaelic is still used called "Gaeltacht" but why can't the entire country become a "Gaeltacht"?

I know I have spelt it wrong but it's pronounced like that: Min-kia. I think it's an insult of some kind.

I think picking up Japanese would be really fun (much better than French >=P), but I don't know how to go about learning.

I've looked it up now and then, but free websites that teach Japanese just don't work for me (a. because my computer doesn't recognize Japanese characters and replaces them with question marks, b. they don't teach a lot of the language (they'll have a few scattered words and characters) and c. I can't learn without a good teacher). I've also looked up teachers, but the closest private teacher I could find was in Michigan (I'm Nova Scotian). There are Japanese courses in university, but I'm 14 and I'd like to start sooner rather than later.

Any tips are greatly appreciated :)

I asked this question on Yahoo! España Respuestas: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmwDIWoFPbv6npYX.qleRXfsy6IX?qid=20060806075622AAUNo7h

I think some people took offense to the way I asked the question, though I'm not sure if it was that, or if it was because of some other thing. I just want to know if they were offended by the way I asked the question, so I can learn from my mistakes. (Also, I know my grammar wasn't great in that question, and I possibly used "todavía" instead of "ya" because that one always confuses me...).

I really, honestly didn't mean to offend anyone with the question, I was just curious if Spanish accents of English speakers do seem funny/bad/weird/etc to native speakers.

(Also, what does "usaca" mean, I can't find it in a dictionary, and I don't really get that answer.)

Gracias a todos.
