college-- it would be well worth the fee. the proffessors are generally much more acurate with there knowlege of the language, and better at getting it through to the students than a video. I am sure if you went to the community colege in your area they could also direct you to a one on one tutor- but it may cost alot more. good luck with that!

i actually learned a lot from dramas and anime, but you can't learn a whole language from just that. i would recommend taking classes, but if you don't have the time or money, you can buy a didactic book with or without an instructional tape/video, and learn the written and oral language from that. also, make sure you're constantly in contact with the japanese language. even going to an asian supermarket that sells japanese products would help; frequently seeing letters help you to memorize them and read faster.

Hello,

Rossette Stone has some of the best software and their system does work very well.

It however is very expensive.
It also has basic words and so many lessons and so many words, Only. Yet, I believe you have access to other words and lessons online from it. I have never used that part or tried to.

I had excellent results in Speech, visual and then Written. Both in the English Alphabet and in the Japanese Symbols.

Good Luck.

Ciao and Peace - out

It's better to learn a foreign language from a person. That way you learn the accent sounds, modes for asking or telling. Oh and by the way,it's more fun with a person of the opposite sex too, lol.
