You say:

"El teléfono está sonando". Period.
That's how you say it and that's how you spell it correctly.
People, avoid those translation programs please!

You don't say it. You pick up the phone and call the immigration service and make sure the 'spanish' person with the phone is a legal resident of the U.S.A.
