My mom is making the traditional pumpkin and pecan pies so I kind of want to stay away from spice type cakes. I was thinking about some banana bread or even a pinapple upsidedown cake.

Because the Native Americans introduced popcorn to the pilgrims when they arrived to America, and I'm sure they had it at their First Thanksgiving.

Is it because the Americans wanted to thank the Indians for welcoming them or they wanted to thank God after a good harvest ?

This is my boyfriend and I's first thanksgiving together and we have to go to his dad's, his mom's, and my family's thanksgiving dinners. Mine starts at 12 and his both start at 1. Mine is about 20mins away from his dads. But his mom's is about a half hour away from his dads. We want to be able to spend time with everyone, and everyone wants to spend time with us. How long should we stay at each place? When would leaving be considered rude, timewise that is?

Thanks!

Do ALL American celebrate Thanksgiving? Exactly HOW is it celebrated? Do you give/receive gifts? Do you decorate your homes? How do you then cope with Christmas festivities (if you celecrate it) a very short time afterwards?

My husbands mother is coming and he has his brothers that recently moved to our area that are coming as well. One brother has 5 children which arent his and the other brother is just weird ( he was incarcerated from 13-18). I am dreading the actual day because we are very different my family is educated and we have goals in life while his( except his mother) prefers to live off tax payers dollars. How do I get past this with out going crazy the only thing I have to look forward to is my granmother coming and I can display for her the many things I am greatful for that she has showed me as a child. They want ribs and barbeque food and I am a more traditional person. Please give me an insight. Their will be 23 people at my house more than half are kids. How do I keep other peoples kids in control as well?
