Since you are only living together then I don't think it is your decision to make. If he wants to be with his family at Thanksgiving & Christmas it is HIS choice. If you want him to be with you at Thanksgiving, then have Thanksgiving dinner & your house & invite his family & your family. Same with Christmas... If the families want you with them on Christmas do what my brother & sister in-law have always done (especially since they had kids)... Christmas Eve @ her mom & dad's. Christmas Day @ home & my brother's family goes over to their house & spends the day there.
My husband & I do not have that problem.......Our families live 3000 miles away!!!!!!! They know where we are & if they would like to come up for the Holidays they are more than Welcome, but don't expect all 5 of us to fly down.... Tried it once or twice when our first two were little, but we had flights cancelled by the weather.

You have the right idea. All you have to do is decide which family to see at Thanksgiving and do Christmas with the other. Do you live in the same area? When you do dinner with one family, maybe you could stop by the other later for dessert.

I think he should spend thanksgiving with you, but then also split the time and spend time with his family. Since everyone knows now u guys live together then thatz good enough. Just split the time difference, but what u said made sense so whatever works best for the both of you is good.

Thanksgiving day and Christmas are recognized Holy days. Banks and government offices are closed on those days or as close to Friday or Monday as possible, so make a weekend of the events. Your not really religous where going to church as a family together matters, since you call him your boyfriend, not your husband, so your schedules are more flexable.

My parents live about eleven miles from my in-laws, and me and my husband are spending Thanksgiving at my Mom's. I'll help cook and clean, he'll help my dad do.....whatever it is men do on Thanksgiving. Actually, Dad cooks the turkey, so that's what they'll be doing. And my four year old will be with her dad Thanksgiving, so my in-laws want to wait until she's home before having our dinner.

Holidays are confusing at my house!

I had this question years ago when I first met my wife. We go to both places every holiday so that we see all our family. Granted we live within an hour of each others family. We always get more food than we can handle but our kids always get more gifts than we could get. This year I met my biological father, now what to do? Three placesto be at once,

If both sets of parents live close, you can do both. Do the meal at one house and dessert at the other. As far as Xmas goes, do Xmas eve at one house and Xmas day at the other. The "switch" thing is more appropriate for married people.

That is fair. If you get married and have kids, that is what you will have to do if you do not live close to both families. He should understand that the holidays are just as important for you and your family as they are for him and his. If he will not comprise, picture that as the rest of your life with him and get rid of him.

Either way you must discuss it with him and come to a mutual agreement, it really is too trivial a problem to dwell on.
