most celebrate, yes
Mostly with Food and family fellowship.
Stores and markets will close. Parades on TV and Football games.
Not so much decorations.
Christmas is fun. It is an easy turn around.

OK, as far as I know most Americans celebrate Thanksgiving. It is, after all, an American celebration. No, my family doesn't exchange gifts on Thanksgiving. All of us gather at our Mom's home, all 35 of us, (children, spouses, grandchildren, great grand-kids) for turkey dinner, desert, and family time. Whoever wants comes on Thansgiving eve to help Mom get ready, oh, and to drink wine! The rules are...Thanksgiving Day...all arguing, fights, bad feelings must be put aside for the day, everyone must contribute whatever Mom tells them to bring. She decides, no questions asked. Several disagreements and "hard feelings" have been resolved on Thanksgiving over the years. We're far from perfect, and in a family this large there's always something going on, but on this 1 day every year we make it a point to be thankful for everything about our family. The good, the bad, the ugly.
How do we handle Christmas so close to Thanksgiving? You work and RUN your bum off until the stores close on Christmas eve! Oh yeah, and the alcohol helps!

I don't know if all Americans celebrate Thanksgiving. It is the least controversial holiday, and it's not religious (unless you want to make it that way.) Thanksgiving is usually celebrated with a big turkey dinner and football and watching the parade on tv. We don't give gifts. Decorations include pumpkins, paper turkeys, horn of plenty, and statues of pilgrims. I don't get into the Christmas spirit til a couple weeks after Thanksgiving, but then I don't rush out to buy things on black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving.)

Here at Puerto Rico we celebrate Thanksgiving. We(family and friends)get together and first give Thanks to God for the many things we often take for granted. Then we eat turkey, mashed potatoes, pumkin pie, stuffing, rice with gandules, ect. We do not give or receive gifts unless someone wants to bring some kind of food to the feast. We decorate sometimes with a poster of a turkey or a sign that says Happy Thanksgiving Day. We cope with Christmas just fine and normal. Latina,Puerto Rico
