If thankgiving in America falls on a Thursday. After stuffing your face with turkey does anyone actually go to work on Friday? Or do people ussually take an extra day off and make it a 4 day long weekend? I want to celebrate it but I am not sure how to? All I know is you need Turkey right? What if you have no family? Are you still allowed to celebrate it?

We want to spend it in the United States. Some people are coming from New Hampshire, some from Maryland, some from San Francisco, CA so we want to "meet up". We'd prefer warm/hot weather (so not the North) and/or a resort. Anywhere cool that you live or have visited you can recommend? We like to swim, shop, go to theme parks, water parks, sightsee, do tourist stuff, go to casinos. Not big nature people (hiking, biking) and not doing extreme sports (hang gliding, bungee jumping). Thanks!

There's this tradition in france where they put two beans in a cake or a pie, I do not remember. But the tradition is that whoever gets the slices of the pie/cake with the bean in it, they get to be queen/king for the day. Does anyone know the name of the dessert?

Did the Pilgrims have a similar feast on the first thanksgiving compared to the feast we have today? If not, then what would they have eaten during their meal?

i know its a stupid question, but i grew up in a family that goes way overboard on thanksgiving, tons of food before the turkey even comes out and by that time, u want to throw up, especially italian-americans, they have baked ziti and meatballs and all this other stuff and the real food of that holiday is turkey, dont get it. that is how i grew up, its no wonder i gained 20 pounds over the holidays.

I am Mexican like I said before, but I am not Catholic. I happend I was walking down the street when I saw people preparing for BBQ I did know why. My question should've been why were there parties. It's just curiosity. I apologize if it look like I was pointig fingers at somebody.
