You are so right! We were in NYC in March and we took a box of Typhoo teabags to our hotel. Only trouble was that the hotel only supplied a coffee maker and when we asked for a kettle, they simply didn't have one! A coffee maker does not make good tea! So we bought our tea out at the corner stores .,... and you know, Liptons with hot water and sugar is really not that bad!

Yeah right!
Americans like tea, and you can buy good old liptons.......but as you say its CR$P.......... and has the ugliest little box!
If you ever see ARIZONA ICE TEA you will notice the dark colour, this is VERY strong and sweet.
Go to Walgreens (like boots but with more crap) and buy ARIZONA GRANULES............they are the best substitue, they dont make decent bags but to be honest you will hardly noticfe the difference after a while!
I am a twinnings everyday man myself.

Probably because as Americans we don't all drink tea like other countries. We drink coffee like others drink tea. But I have noticed that a few do offer other varieties of tea.
