There's this tradition in france where they put two beans in a cake or a pie, I do not remember. But the tradition is that whoever gets the slices of the pie/cake with the bean in it, they get to be queen/king for the day. Does anyone know the name of the dessert?

Wasn't aware it was also a French Christmas tradition. I know another version where things are baked in that represent things like fortune (a coin), luck (some kind of lucky object), marriage (a ring), health (not sure what this was supposed to be), etc. for the coming year.

What you describe sounds like the king cakes of Carnival tradition. And I'm talking the Christian festival season Carnival, which in this country we'd also call Mardi Gras. In European countries they still place a bean or bean trinket in the king cake. A plastic infant figure is more in this country, especially in New Orleans.

I have never heard of putting a bean in a cake. I remember eating a cake that had a tiny plastic baby in it and whoever got the slice with the baby would have good luck for the following year.
