Not just what people are saying or what the 'experts' or 'retailers' want you to buy, but what really is hot THIS year.

Oh gosh that never happened.

They would never do that.

Well yes they did and should have been arrested for doing it.

Some of my family members don't get a long and can't standing being under one roof during Xmas time. Reason...my mother drives everyone nuts! So like every year, we take turns speading Xmas at eachother others houses, last year was at mine, this year its my cousin's turn. And a couple of months ago my mother had a falling out with her sister (my aunt) and mother of my cousin. So basically a couple months before their falling out the decision was to spend Xmas at her house. We all agreed. Now that my mom is fighting with my aunt, my mother expects me to drop her invitation the last minute to spend with her. She is giving me this guilt trip like..."I don't get to spend Xmas with my grandchildren"? She is so closed minded and only cares about her, I don't agree with her in the argument she had with my aunt, but I don't say anythng as it has nothing to do with me. What would you do? How do you split your time? This gets me so angry...I cant be at 2 places the same freaken time!

Anyone have any fun gift ideas for a 10 year old boy that is financially disadvantaged. He is already receiving the necessity gifts (e.g. new coat, gloves, hat, clothes, etc.). Obviously, if he is in financial need he should get the necessities, but he's a 10 year old boy and allowed to want things other than those gift ideas. Can anyone think of something a 10yo boy may like for Christmas within a budget of $20-25?

I just realized that most people don't seem to know this. Most regular Christmas lights have a warning on the box and/or cord tag that says the coating for the wires contains lead and that you should wash your hands after you handle the lights. And obviously you shouldn't let kids play with the lights. How many people out there knew this? I'm curious because there have been so many recalls lately of things that contain lead, but Christmas lights are never mentioned.

i have a friend who is jewish, both of his parents are and hes had a barmitzvah and everything. today he was telling me that his family celebrates Hanukkah and christmas, and when i asked him why they celebrate christmas he was like "i dont know. just because". they dont get a tree or anything but they still exchange gifts on that day. i know friends who celebrate both because they have 2 parents of different religions and obviously i know of jewish people who go to christmas parties with friends and stuff. i just find it almost offense that they celebrate a holiday based on something they dont actually believe in. any thoughts?

I get very tired of all the politically correct garbage where people feel like they have to say Happy Holidays so they don't offend someone.

Personally, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I'm just curious what people think. Am I being insulting to people that don't celebrate Christmas?

(I asked a similar question yesterday and it was deleted because someone claimed it wasn't a question. It was a question!)

I keep hearing about Charitable organizations that are collecting presents for kids who "otherwise wouldnt have a Christmas" etc. I was wondering in this day and age what family couldnt afford at least a moderate christmas for their children? There are so many resources out there for low income families w/children (food stamps, low income housing, food pantries, childcare assistance, etc) you would think there is nobody so broke thier kids will have no Christmas- at least not in America.

Anyways, i'm not saying they shouldnt give presents out (It hink its a great program- will probably donate) But I was wondering if it is really possible in America to be that poor.

Thoughts?

Getting a really expensive gift, such as a BMW or diamond ring.. would you take it in exchange of spending the holiday alone instead of with friends and family? Just a curious question.
