...Explains how X-Mas is not meant to dishonor Christ. It does go off on a few tangents but the main point is that as long as your actions still demonstrate that you are loyal to Him and still keeping Christ the center of your thoughts then X-Mas and Christmas really have no difference.

And yes, I am ready to receive a barrage of thumbs down lol

Actually I prefer Christmas anyway but, the X in x-mas was originally used as an abbreviation for Christ from the Greek letter Chi. Often seen together with the Greek letter Rho (P) to make a symbol for Christ.

So really when someone uses X-mas instead of Christmas it is a symbol of the name of Christ not a deletion of Christ.

Obviously, a few other people have explained the 'Chi' thing, which is where I was going...but do we really think that someone said..."Wow, let's get rid of Jesus in this whole Christmas busines...where should we start? X out Christ" Christmas is kind of a long word...the x was chosen for a reason, which has already been explained a few times.

If it bothers you, maybe you could use C-mas! :)

Well, look at it this way would you want to receive a birthday card that said, "Happy birthday X?" Even though the X stands for the greek word for Christ, the way it is used today is for taking Christ out of Christmas.

I don't take offense to someone saying "X-mas". I think it just personal taste. But I do see and understand your parent's point of view. Christmas is a time to celebrate Christ and not forget about him because we are too consume with materialistic things! Best wishes

I believe the X is just lazy/shortened way of spelling Christmas...I know some Christians are offended by X-mas because they believe that using the X is like crossing out "Christ".

before everything the Christmas area is approximately Christmas no longer faith. The Ramadan area is all approximately faith. in case you're so take care of on your ideals why does what we are saying even complication you. truthfully in case you knew for advantageous we've been so incorrect you does no longer even answer! each week there are various questions from Muslims attempting to justify their ideals with one yet another. Christians never post that kind of question because of the fact all of us comprehend the reality and decide to proportion it with you! I even have had some disgusting emails from "non violent and tolerant" MUslims calling me w***e for no longer donning a hijab. in my opinion, i do no longer drink, or smoke and gown modestly - no longer that its everyone else's employer. I additionally get emails on a daily basis telling me i'm incorrect and that i might desire to transform. properly, you will possibly upload SOC too in case you get carry of those.

Your parents are wrong and so are those who pronounce Xmas "X" mas.

The letter used is not truly an 'X', it is the Greek letter 'Chi', which together with the Greek letter 'Rho' (which looks like a 'P') form the Chi-Rho symbol. This is the oldest Christian symbol, and represents the first two letters of the Greek word 'Christos' as used by the gospel writers.

I've heard it this way. X = no mas=more
No more? . I never spelled Christmas with X because it's like X-ing out. I love Jesus, too
