Where's the limit? How do we know what to celebrate?

~Why don't we have one day set aside every year for hot air balloon rides in order to celebrate Christ's ascension to heaven?

~ Why noy have three days of swimming parties in the summer to celebrate/symbolize Christ's three days in the grave? We could even pick a time based upon our speculation of when John the Baptist, baptized Jesus.

~ There is considerable Biblical focus on Jesus' miracles (even more than on his birth), so why not have one day set aside every year to celebrate the first of Christ's miracles? And since that was the turning of water into wine (John 2), why not have "Christian" wine-tasting parties?

I've just seen on the TV that Harrods and Selfridges are opening their Christmas departments already. Are they mad? It's not even the middle of August! Stop the world, I want to get off!!!!!!!!

When I was younger, my mother and grandparent tried their best to buy toys for me and my siblings(Uno, Operation, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Checkers, Atari 2600--Note: a few years later). We were poor and my mother(who died early in life) and grandparent couldn't afford to get a lot of toys. Today's kids can get video games and other toys ANYTIME. Wouldn't this make Christmas just another day?

My favorite holiday is Christmas because that is when I get to see my whole family and we get to catch up and I meet new family and we get a good meal, because my family makes some gooooooood food, it runs in the family.

Give me song title and artist. It doesn't have to be a traditional carol. My personal favorite is "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses, partly because I met my wife on New Year's Eve.

I was just thinking of making it possible to enjoy the Christmas season without going bankrupt. Would the kids hate us or appreciate the season more? Two of my children already know about Santa. The other two are old enough that it wouldn't hurt them to know the truth. Would I be wrong for changing the tradition in mainstream? Any ideas how to go about doing it?

Living in a home with a 45' cathedral ceiling (living room only)
we can manage up to a 18' high by 9' in diameter. Anything any larger is just too heavy! The tallest tree we have ever bought, however was only 13' tall with a 7' spread. You can just imagine how many presents you could fit under that thing!
But such a pain to decorate....

What types of stores do you like? Specialty shops, Malls, Wal-Mart?

This has to do with a song that has some lyrics in it that I may or maynot have correct.

"it has "sidewalk santa"

"it's a magical or beautiful morning and children laughing , Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year"

then there is a lot of "la, la, la la, la, la , la"

I know also that in the beginning there sounds like a crowd conversing with each other. It is an upbeat song nothing sappy at all and I know it is not Silver Bells.

any idea on what the Christmas song this could be. It is at least a decade old. Thanks for looking even if you can not help :)
