Probably about 6. Used to have some horrid Christmas Eves before that. My father was the local Vicar and even my Grandmother wanted to go to Church on Christmas Eve, so I was dragged along as well. After Mass, my father would be talking to departing members of the Congregation and I'd be looking up in the sky, watching for Santa, and tugging at my father's sleeve. I thought if we didn't get home soon, Santa wouldn't know there was a child in the house and just fly passed.

In our Christian circles we don't teach our kids Santa Claus. We believe he takes away the glory of God and the real meaning of Christmas. There is a good article on the subject and I'm sorry I don't know where it is on the net but if you do a search for Santa claus and evil or devil (or something like that) you will see. None of my family and friends even care. I just make sure that my four year old doesn't tell his preschool friends.

OMG! Cyrus, I was in the same grade, 2nd, when I stopped believing. In fact, I think it was actually summer 91 when I said, "Mom, if Santa is real, then how come everybody gets so worried about me seeing my Christmas presents? Why wouldn't they be at the North Pole?" So at 8.5 (I started kindergarten at 6 instead of 5) I had fun telling my classmates the truth about Mr. Claus and this got me in hot water with my family as well since I had so many younger cousins and baby sister not long after.

Santa Claus is what you make him. I believe - I have memories of childhood and Santa, I have my own Santa now, my husband.

I was about 9 years old. That is kinda old to still believe in Santa. I remember I was in the fourth grade and everyone laughed at me because I still believed. Even my teacher joined in the laughter. I was so upset with everyone. When I told my mom what had happened, she broke down and told me the truth. Ba Hum Bug!
