Christmas holiday season traditionally begins the day after Thanksgiving.
My house starts at the beginning of Advent every year.
Retailers seem to start earlier and earlier every year.

Typically the holiday "season" begins with Thanksgiving (the 4th Thursday in November). This is typically true for everyone. I'm not sure what you mean about "working people" starting it. However, the Christmas season in the retail world really begins in October. Personally, I start thinking Christmas as soon as summer is over - I love Christmas!

After Thanksgiving dinner we would decorate the tree and house for Christmas, make plans on gifts and food and what we'd like to do. It was fun, fun, fun. I always started buying my gifts in August on a lay a way plan. Once I started in January. Never did like to start the New Year out owing folks money. So I had 3 good holidays with my family! No regrets!

We start with Thanksgiving. I like the tree with lights. Our grandchildren put up our tree and we enjoy it for a month. We take it down a day or two after Christmas. We donate to the food bank for thanksgiving and Christmas before wo do for ourselves. When the family party begins we have someone read the story of the birth of Jesus and remind that Santa Clause is not the real meaning of Christmas.

The year begins sometime between mid August and early September, counting on the college district. We get about 1/2 per week off for Thanksgiving on the end of November, about 2 weeks off for Christmas, and each and each and every week-lengthy sping spoil (regularly in March or early April). maximum places also get unmarried days off for vacation journeys such as Veteran's Day (November 11), Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January) and President's Day (in February). We end the year sometime between late ought to and mid June (back, counting on the college district and at the same time as the college year all started). we've a lengthy summer spoil considering the fact that we do not get all that a lot spoil day in the course of the year.

The businesses in the U.S. are closed sporadically in December depending on the beliefs of the owner because the U.S. is made up of such a diverse group of people with different religious beliefs.
People in the U.S. not only celebrate Christmas during the month of December, but they also celebrate Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and other festivities.
I believe that the majority of businesses are closed December 25 for Christmas Day, but around that, it is completely at the owner's choice.

According to the malls, Christmas begins on November 1, the day after they shuffle out the Halloween stuff ... traditionally, it begins the day after Thanksgiving ... in our house, we start putting up the outdoor decorations the first weekend of December and the indoor decorations the next weekend ... all of it comes down the weekend after Christmas

Depends. Officially, the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday is what we call it in Retail). But if you are in the retail business it could start as early as July. Ask Hallmark - they start putting out ornaments in July. The retail business world usually says no vacations or time off after the first week in Oct. some as early as when school starts back.
As for Christmas spirit and when that starts - mine is Dec. 24th when I clock out of work!!

The day after Thanksgiving
I've noticed in some of the discount stores things to use for decorating are already out. Way too early for me.
