I've just seen on the TV that Harrods and Selfridges are opening their Christmas departments already. Are they mad? It's not even the middle of August! Stop the world, I want to get off!!!!!!!!

it seems like every year the stores open Christmas displays earlier and earlier, soon the displays will be 24/7.
it is just wrong the middle of summer to put out Christmas displays. the earliest in my opinion is November 6Th to start having the displays. however personally I'd rather they did not put the Christmas displays out at all. as it seems the meaning of Christmas has been lost over the centuries, it is less about celebrating the birth of Christ and more about what kids can get out of There parents on 25th DEC. and how much profit the retailers can screw out of the public for what is essentially crap.
i used to work in retail selling the tat and after two or three years working in the stores with the Christmas tunes and carols playing 12 hours a day 5 days a week for upwards of 4.5 to 5 months trust me it get annoying. you try it, create a Christmas play list and the put it on 12 hour auto repeat. within 5 days you will get sick of it.
so if when you are out shopping a sales assistant fails to wish you a merry Christmas remember it is not a reflection on you it is more a case of them about to blow a fuse after hearing the same tape for the tenth time that week and it is stressing them out.
