I am having 4 adults and one child for Thanksgiving dinner. HOWEVER I want tons left over- and the men I would count as two people. What size turkey should I buy? I was thinking 18lbs. I can freeze the leftovers etc. Is this too much? Also how long does it take to thaw a turkey this size?

He's my delemia...My Sister-in-law & her son were "adopted" for Christmas. Well when she was contacted & asked what her family needed..she told them that her brother (my hubby) was in need of a new microwave, because his was ancient. (it works just fine by the way, even if it is old) Anywho, they said that they would get that for him as well. She will not tell me the name of the organization because she knows I will inform them not to get us the microwave. We are definatly NOT in need. Me & hubby both work good jobs & have no kids...so we are in no way needy. Now my SIL on the other hand doesn't work and lives off childsupport for her son. He does deserve something for Christmas. Also, I know several other people who are in need of some extra assistance this year. The funds should definatly be going towards them, not us. Would they be upset if they brought it to us & I asked for them to take it back? I don't want to be rude, but I want to do the right thing. Advice please.

I haven't been for a while. The last time I went was for a wedding. Unfortunately the females in my family/relations don't go very often, they pray at home. I would love to go more often.

My husband never likes his Christmas gifts, so this year I am getting him a small item and a big gift card to Best Buy. I am NOT a mind reader, and I'm tired of hearing about how crappy his presents are.

*I'm looking to spend around $20. (I already gave him a big gift on his birthday party. But I want to give him something on his actual birthday; along with a cake.)
*He's a mechanic
*He has lots of clothes
*He says he doesn't need/want anything

So what should I get?

My grandmother is about 80 years old, and I want to get her something different and unique. She usually gets clothes or stuff for her garden or stuff with birds on it. She's your typical old lady...she adores her grandchildren, she does embroidery, cooks, loves birds and gardening. Any ideas??

one of them came up to me privately and said two of the people included decided they were going to buy something small for everyone along with there secret santa gift which is set at 25 dollars no more no less... to buy something "small" at 5-10 dollars for everyone else i think is pricey... am i obligated to do this now? and to add to it the girl i picked she already told someone to find out what i was buying her to see if she'll like it... (i know secret santa is suppose to be secret but its to easy to figure out who has who once one person tells who they have) anyway... i just feel they've turned it into a greed fest.
